I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

So much to learn all of the time, very fast paced, and given latitude to think on your feet.

    Cons

Literally on call 24/7 and work a tremendous amount of hours, the good idea fairy does not die....ever, and back to work life balance...it is very difficult and I have a great team.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I am an Amazonian and love it. I’ve learned more in 3 years here than I did in my previous 10 and am doing big things. Working at Amazon, you make customers happy, have full ownership over the initiative that you’re working, and a lot of resources and support to back you up. Work for Amazon if you want to do big things

    Cons

The culture at Amazon can be consuming. Most of us love what we do so it can be very intensely obsessive, so it can be a challenge to balance this with life outside work; but certainly can be done if you prioritize well and can have the backbone to say no

    Advice to Management

Don’t fall into the traps of traditional enterprises. Some recent hires, such a Short Sandy Carter, have us pushing tehnologies instead of customer driven outcomes and that is a direction that could poison the culture if we’re not careful

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. Provide you the platform to innovate.
    2. Still startup culture that allows you to innovate.
    3. Pressure to innovate but not to keep doing manual tasks.
    4. Work hour flexibility.

    Cons

I am privileged to work with some of the best leadership in my career so I do not have any cons. Only cons I can think of is that as there are so many custom tools and processes, it gets harder for a new hire to understand eco-system easily.

I worked at Amazon part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Job is simple, no interview, consistent part-time hours, unpaid hours, paid weekly

    Cons

Very poor management, some very lazy coworkers that get away with it, favoritism with job duties, no advancement even after working there for an extended period of time, too many safety issues to list, did not want to provide us with water during the heatwave while we working outside for hours, lack of coverage with dealing with drivers because company wants to save money, and the company could care less about you and cutting your hours.

    Advice to Management

They need to take care of their employees a lot more, since at least 30% of the starting team quit over the past year, don't play favoritism, be realistic and logical, be more organized ahead of time.

    I worked at Amazon full-time

    Pros

The people. I made some great friends at Amazon. Mostly bonding over how messed up the place is. Don’t be fooled. The NY Times article is spot on.

    Cons

They get you for as little $ as possible, sucker you into a messed up overall comp scheme (watch out for the cliff in year three), and then they will work you into the ground, all with the intention of burning you out.

And if you are female, over the age of 30, and have children, this is NOT the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better. Period. They are thrilled to work for Amazon. They genuinely want to work there. Do yourself a favor and appreciate them and reward & value them accordingly. Also, stop dangling the carrot... pay to inspire, not to trap.

I worked at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They had good hours and a cool staff that i worked around that made the job site more fun tho we all took our jobs serious.....

    Cons

Some of the supervisors we're very unprofessional and thats a small irritation for any work area. Overwhelming us wit more packages then our vans could fit sometime.

    Advice to Management

Im a very good worker, hard working, prompt, team player, and ready for the next step.
