I worked at Amazon part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a fast pace environment, co workers were fun, and every once in a while management provided free lunch and gave away gift cards. Holidays were paid.

    Cons

Management picked favorites at times. The job came with some drama between co-workers.

I worked at Amazon part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Weekly pay, nice co-workers, variety of schedules to choose from.

    Cons

Physically demanding. Employees are disposable, and there is a high turnover. There are a lot of slackers but just as many conscientious workers who unfortunately will not stay long. Hawthorne facility needs more bathrooms.

I worked at Amazon part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Employees are given free food and there are activities to do on certain days of the month.

    Cons

Management doesn't listen and it takes a while for procedures to change. Supervision is spread too thin and that lets people slack off. Some supervisors do not do their part in tracking your labor hours by taking you on or off the clock. People are not vetted, they are just pulled off the street for the sort center. Some of those people are good people that work hard, others are not. There was no interview for Amazon's hiring at the sort center, this allows in no way to gauge personalities. Which causes the variable quality in work ethic among the new hires. Tighten those control but give chances to those who show promise.

    Advice to Management

Don't just run the business by the numbers, you'll run it into the ground that way. Take care of your people and they'll take care of you. Hire for fit and train for skill, when I was there we got a lot of people who would care only of themselves and not the team. This meant that the work was done in a sloppy way that needed to be redone by someone later. Provide employees with training workshops so they can develop that skill as well.

I worked at Amazon part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very fast paced environment so you always have something to do.
They also offer overtime a decent amount of the time.

    Cons

Not a lot of flexibility in shifts. I would've like to work like Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, but that wasn't one of their preset options so couldn't do it.

I worked at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

In the beginning it was amazing to be a part of this great team but everything became really numbers driven where they really did not care about the employee experience.

    Cons

The driving for this company is insane. They need to have company vehicles for the employees and they also need to have some kind of business insurance for driving your own personal car. Don’t expect to get raises in this role it’s been two years and they still have not given a single field technician a raise.

    Advice to Management

Learn to treat everybody equally and stop always blaming people before finding out the whole story. Have respect for their employees that worked underneath you and do not talk badly about other employees with other employees on the same team.
