I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Tremendous growth opportunities due to massive growth. Flat organization that operates more like a scrappy startup than a very large, bureaucratic organization. Highly competitive compensation with all employees having ownership interests via RSU's. It is such a privilege to work with so many talented people.

    Cons

Massive growth means that things change constantly - this is great for those who are flexible and deal well with ambiguity, but would be a challenge for others who prefer more rigid environments. The latter should be very cautious about joining.

    Advice to Management

No advice needed, I have every bit of confidence in the organization's leadership and strategy.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Love my team - they're smart, collaborative and kind. That's not to say we won't disagree and commit, but we do it with respect. Work life balance is much better than my past life (agency and other retailers). Love that Amazon gives back to the community in so many ways. I care immensely about working for a company that lives its culture - that's Amazon, more than any other company I've worked for.

    Cons

Traffic can be a little busy after work hours, but nothing impossible.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing!

    Pros

Love to work surrounded by very smart people. Evey single day I learn something new and it's exciting!

    Cons

If you want to succeed you need to invest more time at work vs. life but that choice it's entirely yours.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great investment in people through training, important benefits (like healthcare, ease of T&E, etc.), understanding of expectations and culture, making you feel like you're a part of something great (which you are).

    Cons

Understanding the compensation model is a bit tricky. Also, if you're remote and don't want to travel a lot (even if you don't think you'll be traveling a lot), you'll still be traveling a lot.

    Advice to Management

    None. So far so good.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You will meet some incredibly smart people while working at Amazon. If you pose no threat to their career projection, you have the opportunity to build a strong network.

    Cons

Although slavery in the US was abolished in 1865, I'd imagine this would be the closest you'd encounter in modern day. Employees easily work 70-100 hours per week, both during peak (holiday) and non-peak months. Amazon pays well below many other companies in tech, attempting to close the gap with stock that takes 4 years to fully vest and you will likely never see because the average tenure of employees there is 11-18 months depending on the division of the company. Managers here are horribly inexperienced and will throw you under the bus to spare themselves. Do not expect HR to help you with resolving any personnel issues including harassment, management intimidation, workplace bullying, or any of other good 'ol boy tactics common in the tech environment. Heed the warnings of the NY Times article (and several other articles). This is a truly awful place to work.

    Advice to Management

This place is beyond repair. I truly don't think management cares to improve this work environment, so I'll spare my advice for perspective employees. DO NOT WORK HERE. There is far better out there.
