I worked at Amazon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Four day, 40 hour work week plus benefits.

    Cons

Changes in Management. Due to the nature of the business, everything is based on the speed that product can be sent to the customer. When problems arise due to this, action for improvement is often delayed. Quality suffers. Employees often feel like robots instead of people. Managers that meet production goals are often kept, even though they are lousy managers, with few people skills.

    Advice to Management

Use Amazon as a stepping stone, not a destination, if you are not given opportunities for advancement in the first year. This company hires more from without. the organization.

I worked at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Every job in the warehouse is easy to learn, and most of the employees are pretty nice people.

    Cons

Most of the jobs in the warehouse, whether it is picking, packing, shipping, etc., take a toll on your body, even if you turn, bend, lift everything properly. At my time there, I met several people who have worked there several years, who said they basically live with what become permanent aches and pains from various injuries.

    Cons

    Pros

Exposure to all aspects of business, good compensation, opportunity to advance both vertically or horizontally, good networking, excellent distribution experience.
