I have been working at Amazon part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good part time job. Perfect to have as a second job or if you're a student.

    Cons

It's just hard physical work sometimes, but what do you expect it's a warehouse.

    Advice to Management

To be more mindful on regular associates and experience on what it's like to be in our shoes on the day to day basis. Sometimes I feel the managers don't know what we go through as workers. Some of their expectations is unrealistic.

I have been working at Amazon part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

$14 for part time, benefits, certain connections with people you enjoy talking. Snack and break area and a whiteboard to voice your opinion on something

    Cons

Very, extremely overwhelming, PAs that bad mouths another PA, bad working environment and lazy people who don’t want to put work in, lifting heavy and extremely long boxes. Dealing with people with bad attitudes and bad hiring process.

    Advice to Management

This job is too easy to get. They need to put restrictions on the hiring process and have people who truly care working here

I worked at Amazon part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone works together, Free snacks once a week, holiday pay

    Cons

Made us carry heavy boxes by ourselves and move them quickly even if it was labeled as Heavy/Teamwork. Managers would snap their fingers at us to make us work faster

    Advice to Management

    Hire managers who are respectful

    Pros

Flexible, good for college student, good benefits.

    Cons

Limited opportunities in climbing the ladder, friends get more promotions than hard workers.

    Advice to Management

Building is falling apart because the people conducting interviews know limited about the job they are interviewing for and passing up on good candidates for positions.

I have been working at Amazon part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Allowance of part time work while going to school is very helpful to those trying to pursue their careers
-Flexible scheduling though it mostly depends on if you get the schedule you want
-Great HR team that handles queries on a timely basis

    Cons

-A good amount of favoritism present in the company though that's usually present wherever you work
-Strict scheduling to adhere to despite having a flexible schedule
-Breaks are almost non existent during the shift
-A lot of individuals slack off and sometimes it goes unnoticed and/or managers turn a blind eye from it

    Advice to Management

-Give proper breaks to your employees. As an employee in a sort center, 10 minutes is not enough for a break especially since this is a laborious position. California law does state that 10 minute breaks after every 4 hours are given but if you give the right amount for break time (15 minutes) for your employees, then for sure you'll be more productive during the shift
-Hire the right managers. I see managers constantly on their phones and monitoring numbers and statistics on their computers rather than helping out associates along the shift. I understand that you have to meet a quota but your part of the sort center as well, please do the work alongside your employees. For those managers that actually do, thank you for your assistance
-Give acknowledgement to your employees because this position isn't easy. Rather than lecturing for 5 minutes on the "urgency" of a specific task, praise them for doing a job well done and ask if they need assistance. Little things like that go along way with your employees
-Proper incentives to your employees would be nice
-Follow work methodologies of companies like Google, Microsoft, etc. I know it's not an apple to apple comparison because this position isn't related to the tech industry but if you follow the Ways of Working from those companies, then not only will your employees be happy but you'll have done a great job in meeting quotas, increasing productivity etc. What I mean by this is, let your employees do the work for you rather than micro managing (which there is a lot of in the sort center). Of course, that means that you have to give the right amount of power to the ones that deserve it and you know won't abuse that power
