I worked at Amazon full-time for more than 3 years
Smart people. Good money. Fast paced. Many opportunities to learn.
They will burn you out. If you are lucky enough to get a good manager, you will feel happy and excited while they burn you out. If you have a bad manager, you will resent it every step of the way. But burnout is a given. A 50 hour work week is considered a minimum in many teams. And if you aren't checking your email first thing in the morning and throughout the evening, you won't be able to keep up.
Advice to Management
Take your diversity problem seriously. Stop blaming the "pipeline" --that is a copout. Take a look at the unconscious bias that is shot through the whole organization.Amazon2019-03-17
