I worked at Amazon part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

$15 pay is good. Fun perks every now and then. Ability to pick up extra shifts (VET) and able to opt out of shifts (VTO)

    Cons

As a part-time associate, you do not accrue ATO or PTO. They only give out 20 hours every 3 months which amounts to about 5 shifts. This isn’t flexible if you’re a student. They will not work with you if you’re involved in stuff on campus. HR is terrible.

    Advice to Management

Hire better HR. Implement better flexibilities for students

    Cons

Management is inexperienced and things feel disorganized. DRT1 location in Durham

    Advice to Management

Hire people with more experience or revamp training.

I have been working at Amazon part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility with scheduling if you live very close / want to be part time.

    Cons

The wage is decent, $15/hr but you're only allowed to work a maximum of 29 hours and be scheduled for 6 total shifts. Each shift is only 4 hours so you need to work all of your 6 shifts plus pick up extra on the side to even get close to 29 hour max. Often times when you show up for your 4 hour shift it will be cut to 3 hours and there is nothing you can do, you just lose that extra money. And depending on how busy they anticipate the day being, they will send employees home as soon as you arrive (if you want to leave) which always seems to leave not enough people left and you get absolutely slammed trying to keep up.

    Advice to Management

Better training. Too many people are sent home leaving the remaining workers to be over worked. Management doesn't coordinate well, employees are constantly being rotated around the building to "problem areas" that are backed up but they never address the root issue to resolve the issue. Metrics are provided as standards but most of my fellow employees are unable to meet the minimums yet there seems to be zero consequences, and no incentives for meeting the minimum requirements / working hard.

Empower women in the workplace. Plan team bonding events, and days where employee don't have to work the whole day.

    Cons

Emphasis on hiring in talent externally

    Advice to Management

Limited guidance on career development is a problem (turnover means managers tend to cling to good workers rather than help develop them)
