I have been working at Amazon full-time

    Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

    Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.

    Advice to Management

More on-boarding training before new employees are thrown in the fire. The first couple of weeks can be very confusing on where to find the information you need that pertains to your job.

I worked at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

great place to work while having fun and working out all in one place. benefits are great if you take the time to invest

    Cons

Treat everyone equally. Amazon tends to hire only military veterans or spouses of veterans in management. Civilians are just that when it comes down to the rest of the employees regardless to experience or degree

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This place is wonderful to work at as a technician. Your co-works are easy to get along with and eager to teach. This will probably be one the best jobs you'll ever have. Over time is generally not offered but once a year during peak but you are garenteed 40 hours a week.

    Cons

If you enjoy night shift this isn't a con, but because the job is so great turnover is rare, decreasing your chances of getting on day shift. HOWEVER since this company is growing rapidly, and if your willing to move around there are endless opportunities.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up

    Pros

There is no end of opportunities to grow and become a better tech sourcer than at Amazon. You can work right in the trenches with the business groups you are aligned to and feel like you are a part of making history. It is really the best job I have ever had.

    Cons

There are times were the Corp. HR doesnt scale or look at how our businesses we support are trending. We need to be as agile as they are and be better partners.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Salary, stock, bonuses.
Interesting problems to solve, that have huge impact
Best and brightest people from all over the world
    Ownership and autonomy
Every decision is made with the best interest of the customer in mind

    Cons

    Not for everyone -

No hand holding, very self service organization

Intentional chaos to drive competition between teams, and therefore foster innovation

    Advice to Management

Use your buying power to build more partnerships, and pass on the perks of those partnerships to your employees

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I work on the Alexa team in Cambridge.
    Pros
-Very exciting product and projects to work on
-Small teams - lots of autonomy and ownership. New ideas definitely heard! A very collaborative environment
-Work life balance, even with a big company like Amazon we have work from home ability and no email on the weekend policy.
-Really nice people work here, very friendly welcoming culture in Alexa. Never afraid to ask a question or reach out to someone who could help.

    Cons

Honestly none come to mind. I've worked for a few tech companies in the Boston/metro west area and I'm the most engaged and excited to come to work at Amazon.

    Advice to Management

We'd like more free snacks, please

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Your peers are just as smart as you are (probably smarter), rapid pace of innovation, little bureaucracy, start-up feel with large company perks, flat organizational structure = access to senior management. Openness for talent to move from one division to another or to move from one function to another. This happens quite often.

    Cons

Pay is strong in general but compared to other top tier tech companies, pay and benefits are average. Lack of defined career-pathing - but this is getting better and talented internal candidates are always in high demand. It takes a long time to hire = some short term pain in keeping up with our growth

    Advice to Management

Don't change anything. I like the fact that compensation and benefits are not the main reasons people want to work here.
