I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - I work on a great team, and the process for Career advancement is cut and clear.

    Cons

    - Lots of teams that are only loosely aware of each other need to interact. This creates a lot of bottlenecking on other teams

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fast paced, high energy company to work with engineering problems of massive scale

    Cons

It's a grind, most people come here to learn and burn out after so many years, hardly any projects that don't have tight, almost unreachable goals.

I have been working at Amazon as an intern

    Pros

Salary is high. Intern project is very clear. You can learn a lot of modern java skill at this company

    Cons

Because this is a big company, there are a lot of meeting if you are a full time engineer. However, the work-life balance is good

    Advice to Management

everyday standup meeting is a little bit annoying. The rest part is good

I worked at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Direct control over code, builds, deployments. Access to AWS tools for team use. Great facility, on-campus dining.

    Cons

Non-industry-standard tools. Proprietary solutions for nearly everything. Experienced developers can't leverage their years of experience in tools, libraries, etc. Pressure to work extended hours. Way, way, too many meetings.
Poor personnel review practices. Hostile developer culture.

    Advice to Management

Train your dev managers in HR practices before you let them manage teams. Eliminate managers who engage in stack ranking. Work on your corporate culture. Encourage devs **NOT** to work more than 8 hours/day.
