I worked at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent working conditions. Good pay and benefits.

    Cons

You will NEVER get coffee when you are working the graveyard shift, at least we never got it regularly. Even though we bought it to the notice of our bosses. Training was bad, they did not have professional experienced trainers. People who had joined moths ago and were still on the job, trained. A case of blind leading the blind. Safety policies, do's and don'ts never disclosed. Then when someone commits a minor infarction it is magnified a million times and one is transferred and told to leave.
Managers feel threatened by smarter and hard working sub ordinates and start playing favorites with subtle needling and suddenly going by the book.

    Advice to Management

Ramp up training and have a system of checks and balances where team members grievances are concerned.
Don't allow one person to play Judge Jury and Executioner........

    Pros

You understand and value the hard work an amazonian does in order to satisfy every customer. Making sure they get their package in time and complete.

    Cons

Some departments are more difficult than others, for example you do more heavy lifting for 10 hours straight and you get paid the same as other departments.

    Advice to Management

    Be a leader. Be fair.

I have been working at Amazon (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You either love the company and culture, or hate it. It is great to be at a company that has leadership principals it hires by and lives every day.

    Cons

It can burn you out. Work/life balance is non-existent. It is hard to find time to keep up on anything other then what you do every day for work. Since the work is so challenging and pushes you to your limits, this is not a bad thing.

    Advice to Management

Keep the bar high; it is getting lower. Politics is creeping into the culture at a high rate. Give people an opportunity to have time to do things other than their 'day job'.

I have been working at Amazon part-time

    Pros

So far Amazon has been an easy company to work for. They have flexible hours, micro managing is low, and the other employees are friendly.

    Cons

The only con so far seems to be HR. I had an issue and the HR rep was mocking, condescending, and unempathetic to my need.

    I worked at Amazon part-time

    Pros

Recognition of hard work, opportunity to learn multiple positions within the warehouse, and friendly personable management.

    Cons

HR has to stick to rules regarding resignation of employees even in traumatic circumstances (Immediate death of family) ex: wife and baby with loss of only transportation.

    Advice to Management

Accept certain extreme conditions as only possible means for having to quit abruptly. Without 2 week notice.

I have been working at Amazon full-time

    Pros

Smartest co-workers, opportunity to be highly creative, opportunity for growth

    Cons

Really depends on your manager - there are a lot of bad ones. Long hours, always short-staffed as your expected to rotate frequently.
