    Pros

Learn from intelligent and talented people
    Flexible working
Great career progression, exciting teams to move to and completely different sides of the business from AWS to Retail to PIV

    Cons

Focus on the result more than the person
    Doesn't acknowledge positive results enough

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Hard work and deliver results is rewarded, total comp model combined with a share price that will continue to rise results in good financial reward. Huge variety of work opportunity, internal movement is encouraged, promotion is achieved with the right focus

    Cons

Nothing dissimilar from other large multi-nationals - politics, speed of decision making in some areas, some areas with a lack of accountability

    Advice to Management

Customer focus has resulted in under invested back office systems, that are now feeling the strain from years of compounded growth. The future scalability of the global organisation is at risk if this isn't addressed.

I have been working at Amazon full-time

    Pros

Highly recommend this international team comprised of some of the smartest people I've ever met with some interesting characters that will challenge and help you grow as a lawyer by ensuring you never get comfortable. Depending on your manager, you can work flexibly - particularly if you are routinely working overtime.

    Cons

Some teams are very cliquey, display obvious favouritism and can be quite political and unfriendly. Overtime is expected, commonplace and unpaid. Recognise difficulties for parents but do not seem to appreciate that singletons may have family responsibilities too, e.g. looking after unwell/elderly parents. Do not know how to support colleagues who have to take sick leave. Number of times HR have told colleagues that maybe Amazon wasn't for them despite them having been a top performer - HR would rather you leave, not help you get back to work.

    Advice to Management

Senior management's values need to flow down the chain to create a better culture within this team.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

No two days have yet been the same. After 7 months the pace of change is still difficult to grasp, however the support and willingness from across all departments to success in infectious.

    Cons

It is not by mistake that 'Work Hard' is put first! Whilst the comp package is above average they do expect and need you give your pound of flesh. 9-5 working is not an option.

    Advice to Management

Expect to be challenged. Expect to be wildly out of depth across a range of issues for at least the first few months. Use the teams around you. People move through roles quickly so everyone knows how difficult it can be transitioning between roles. No one is an island.

    Pros

A very good life changing experience to work on problems at global scale. Lots of autonomy. Ton of stuff to learn.

    Cons

Hours. Perks. Very hard to get to Vice President. There are few places that have tough managers like most other companies.
