I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Amazon is where it is now because of it's vision, and understands both it's immediate market needs, and consistently recalibrate for future demand. Most departments align to this principle and employee will be rewarded in both challenging issues and career development.

    Cons

The cutting/bleeding edge departments could be stressful at times with aggressive product launch deadline. That said, I believe this is applicable in all companies. Commuting to SLU could be challenging with terrible public transportation choices.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Decent pay
    -Quality work
    -Latest tech
-Work life balance - a choice

    Cons

-Appraisal system is broken. Instead of candidate's merit, it depends in how the manager is portraying the candidate's work. An incompetent SDM can easily screw-up the candidate's career.

    I worked at Amazon part-time

    Pros

Great pay, work from home, equipment provided , terrific management

    Cons

High call volume, many things to learn, strict attendance policy

    Advice to Management

Think about those employees with disabilities. Do not make them jump through hoop to get accomodation.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

You can still get 3 people in a room and make a decision to try something. that's pretty cool.

    Cons

poor performers used to get weeded out quickly, sometimes they last too long now

    Advice to Management

as we have grown it's hard to keep the bar high - we need to stay vigilant

I have been working at Amazon full-time

    Pros

Pay/benefits are great! Plenty of insurance options and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) give you plenty of reason to stick around

It's Amazon! Feels good to work for a company that's changing the world.

Amazon isn't afraid to change processes that aren't working. "That's the way we've always done it" is never a valid reason, so we're always trying to change our processes for the better

If you're in management, you'll learn a lot about leadership in a short amount of time

    Cons

Definitely high-stress, especially during peak season (Black Friday to Christmas)

Sometimes you'll have to come in for overtime if you're a salaried manager

    Advice to Management

If you're new, try to learn a little about the process each day. Also take time to introduce yourselves to your associates and show them you care about their well-being! If you learn your area and get the trust and buy-in of your workers, you'll go far!

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The pay is pretty decent and I love the insurance. They will pay for school, they offer vocational classes in CDL. They pay for a lot of different schooling, and vocational classes. They give the employee's a lot of time off. HR is extremely helpful in almost every aspect. I definitely believe Jeff Bezos is a very smart business man. If you show up for work on scheduled time, make expected rate and not have a lot of time off task, then you have potential of opportunity in growing with amazon. Great place! Wish I had began working for Amazon a long time ago. One last thing, veterans are looked upon highly in the company.

    Cons

The managers change quite often. Everyone is looking for the best idea to get the best outcome and it's encouraged to be the one with the next greatest idea in management. There is a lot of change in the air all the time, so if you're not flexible, you might not happy there.

    Advice to Management

When an employee is struggling in one area, get in there and get involved. Find out the obstacles for their employee, not just look at numbers, give warning and right ups. That stuff is very important of course, but interaction will go a long way.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company is agile. People here keep learning new stuff. So good for people who want to learn new stuff and are ready to make changes.

    Cons

However, the company sometimes will keep you busy even when you are off work. For example, if you are on call, then you almost cannot go out during that day or that week.
