I have been working at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good salary , great opportunity to learn a large scale operation and to manage a large team. Fantastic management and leadership learning courses.

    Cons

Long working hours , unsocial shift patterns. A challenging environment to settle into, with little support structure provided. However this forces self learning and taking initiative to develop.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time on developing new hires in managerial positions.

    Pros

    the overtime pay is okay

    Cons

The most boring place on earth
Management are incompetent and have clearly never had leadership training
Unsafe, workers are encourage to break health and safety rules to hit productivity targets
60 hours per week compulsory in Festive period.
Lunch break was 7 hours into in the shift.
Makes you start to go a bit insane after a while of doing the same thing for 10 hours.

    Advice to Management

redesign the packing department to fit your needs rather than bending all the rules.

    Pros

Decent pay if you are willing to work nights and lots of are hours available to you. You can work up to 60 hours during the Christmas period

    Cons

Long shifts, 10 hour shifts, not easy to change your shift pattern, some of the target can be difficult to meet,

    Advice to Management

Can be demanding if you are not on top of your rates, I would recommend to be more lenient with the targets.

    I worked at Amazon full-time

    Pros

You learn a lot about amazon's leadership principles and how to gain the necessary skills to become one. You can find a lot of people from different backgrounds and cultures, and can easily make new friends.

    Cons

There is no transparency when it comes to growing. It doesn't matter what you achieve, how many things you know, learn or change, if your superiors have friends they want to promote, you have no chance.
The salaries are low compared to any other big companies in the area.
You gain more responsibilities over time, but the wages don't reflect that.
Someone from outside has a better chance of landing a good job than someone already working there, so don't think that you can start low and grow.

    Advice to Management

Create a fair plan and equal opportunities for everyone. You may find great talent in your "associates"

I worked at Amazon as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was hard work but taught you a lot of things such as focus, attenttion to detail and work ethic. How to keep targets and to always think of customer satisfaction. The work place is extremely friendly and warm with a healthy dose of competition.

    Cons

Can get monotonous doing the same work all day and staying at the same level of enthusiasm after a 10 hour shift. The work is very strenuous therefore very difficult for someone who isn't physically healthy or mentally strong enough for the long hours and physical work.

The people are incredible, you will make friends for life here from across the globe.
Challenging work that keeps you interested, huge opportunity and scope to learn loads.
    Great benefits.
Fantastic company culture that suits the ambitious and driven.

    Cons

Can be a tiring job, but ultimately rewarding.
    Short breaks.
Food not amazing in the canteen.

    Advice to Management

Take responsibilty where necessary, it will help tje company grow to know its own mistakes rather than shift the blame.

I worked at Amazon (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is good money to be made with an abundance of work. You can really boost your earnings during this time.
They do give free drinks, which is great.

    Cons

They treat you like an animal and that is no overstatement. The breaks are short and pointless because 15mins quickly turns into 8 after all the security checks before leaving the area. Next, they work you hard and long. The targets are unrealistic unless you are a robot. Fatigue kicks in halfway through the work day and they (the supervisors) have no empathy for you whatsoever. It's almost a sweat shop.

    Advice to Management

The advice is to value your workers and appreciate the lengths they go to, and the stresses they endure to complete your daily objectives.

    Pros

Get experience, working as part as a team, challenges , timing. Get to know different people.

    Cons

Time keeping, quality, safety and keeping well on your feet.

    Advice to Management

Some times quality is not reviewed. And temporary contract is poor. Need for permanent position for people who what it.
