I worked at Amazon full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Stable work. Not that hard.

    Cons

    Not much room for improvement

    Advice to Management

10 hours a day for four days straight isn’t that bad at first glance. Let people listen to music while working and have longer breaks like just one hour instead of two 30 minute breaks since it takes a while to walk to the break room. I get the whole no phones on the floor thing but offer some kind of way to let people have some kind of MP3 player to at least get them through the days instead of the sound of conveyer...

I worked at Amazon full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Great beginning wage to start

    Cons

Blackout dates show no mercy for illness and will have you lose your job if you get sick. For example. Start 4 weeks and then get the flu, even with a doctors note, you will lose your job if you have to be out more then 3 work days if it happens during Blackout days.

    Advice to Management

Gave me no choice but to quit due to illness because HR was unwilling to excuse my sickness. You lost a great employee due to a random uncontrolled sickness. Seems unfair to both sides and management should be more considerate.

    Pros

    The pay is not bad.

    Cons

Everything about the culture is straight out of dystopian horror fiction.

    Advice to Management

I've got nothing. Please don't work here.

I have been working at Amazon part-time

    Pros

    The job is extremely easy.

    Cons

Everyone in the building is scheduled four hour shifts without breaks, but if you opt in for an eight hour shift of what they refer to as VET (Voluntary Extra Time), you're then subjected to an eight hour shift without breaks. Hiring process is long and drawn out with a dozen email and text message correspondences.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

    Pros

$15 / hour and no interview makes it easy to start up quickly Safe and clean place to work

    Cons

It's hard work and the only thing they are interested in is productivity

    Advice to Management

Let people choose their role coming in.

    Pros

You get to meet new employees every week.

    Cons

White over40. Need not apply! Out of a job in 30 days. Management could not explain "Amazon Culture"!! If you do something wrong or do not meet quality expectations you are left out in the "Amazon" to survive! Letting many people go to justify 15.00 pay raise? Job not for "everyone"!

    Advice to Management

Article read about "Trust" builds a consumer relationship with business. How about trust and respect towards fellow associates? This would lead to the endless loop of meeting new hired employees every week!

I have been working at Amazon part-time

    Pros

I've only worked here for a bit over a week, so I can't comment on much. But so far, most employees and the management are all very friendly and helpful, and that counts for a lot. I am generally given the option to leave early if I need to, and on the flip side have the option to stay for a bit longer to do additional work near the end of each shift (changes things by about an hour plus or minus). The environment is...

    Cons

The work is physically demanding. You are basically exerting yourself for hours on end, though you do get a 30 minute (unpaid) lunch break and also potentially a 10-15 minute (paid) break if you work for more than 5 hours. It's fast-paced, and while you can go very slowly, if you are actually trying to do a good job you're basically looking at working 3-4 times harder than most minimum-wage positions requiring manual...

    Advice to Management

If you're going to have safety rules, you need to enforce them. People break them fairly often in order to boost their "numbers." Given that we're compared in many ways to our coworkers based on our numbers, and promotions or advancement could be linked to our performance, seeing many long-term employees routinely breaking the rules in order to benefit their "numbers" is frustrating to say the least. Then again, the...
