I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Love my job, love my team, love what we do! The opportunity to be creative is endless. Most of my peers are amazing with super powers who I learn from regularly and leaders within our org who have a true and genuine care for engaging with their teams.

    Cons

Sometimes, it just seems to good to be true....

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Diverse work place, focus on the positive, engaging for associates of all levels and tenure, lots of opportunities for lateral and vertical movement, competitive pay, excellent bonuses and performance based rewards (that are actually attainable!), good coaching and management support.

As an associate you can do more than just answer customer contacts. Amazon is very into engaging all levels of associates with the culture of process improvement. CSAs who perform well can get recruited by leadership into interesting project work that can have a real impact.

Examples of benefits: Tuition assistance, 401k, performance bonuses paid quarterly, stock.

Just consider the stock alone-- look at the price of Amazon stock historically. If you have even 2-3 shares, that's a nice little bonus to look forward to every year.

    Cons

This isn't exactly a con, but something to think about: expect change-- don't ever get too comfortable doing one thing in Amazon customer service. Also getting a permanent leadership job can be challenging. Expect to work several acting assignments as a CSA before you can build up your resume to be competitive enough to get into a permanent leadership position.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent and give honest, actionable feedback for associates who want professional development.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get paid every two weeks.

    Cons

Management treats associates like they are ignorant. They gave unrealistic expectations to meet pick and pack rates. Order pickers have a path that is determined by Amazons computer system. Associates have NO control over this path yet we are judged by it. Management even states that pick paths are poor yet when the weekly review paperwork arrives this fact is forgotten and we are to blame for any shortfall.
Packers are rated by units per hour without regard to events that slow them down beyond their control - how insulting.
Management ignores feedback and moves forward with a deaf ear to reality. Regular unannounced mandatory overtime without regard to associates physical weariness is comon. More people need to be hired to address the workload but there are only so many people available in a geographic area. Eventually they will run out of people who will put up with the abuse. Opportunity to train new employees by current employees results in most of them goofing off and not working.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your associates. We are smarter than you realize. If you don't believe we are working follow us if you can keep up.
