I worked at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This was a fairly nice place to work. They have good benefits and perks, and the office space was comfortable. The work itself was sometimes challenging.

    Cons

Not a lot of room for growth unless you fit a really specific personality profile. The work was often tedious, and the corporate culture was a bit off-putting.

    Advice to Management

Think outside of the box when it comes to promotions. Your corporate culture is getting inbred.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazon is truly a cutting edge place to be. It's exciting to be in on all the newest, amazing things Amazon is doing, testing things no one else can even know exist, being a part of a great American company that puts small businesses on the map. It feels good.

    Cons

TERRIBLE culture. No trust. Trust is key to every relationship. Including professional ones. There is none here. No one has your back.
So much backstabbing. Like. SO MUCH backstabbing! Everyone just wants to get ahead and they don't care if they run over their own mothers to do it. It's really sad to see so much deceit and manipulation in a place that you dreamed would be so great.

    Advice to Management

Know your people. A good leader knows what's going on. Stop looking at the surface and the numbers, and actually pay attention to what the human beings are doing to each other.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Full benefits and a large assortment of packages to choose from.
Stock options - only two-year vesting period.

    Cons

Amazon claims to be a "performance based company", however, when a cross-trained employee of eight departments w/ 57 individual certifications, employee of the month seven times, and employee of the year two of the five years employed is unable to secure a promotion... one questions said mantra. Long story short, they poach external hires from Verizon and Google, offer them a huge hiring bonus and pay them less than you're receiving. 2-3 year turnover. Try not to be offended when you receive a three cent ($.03) raise on a 40k+ salary with an attached email making much ado about nothing.

    Advice to Management

Embrace the "tenets" you claim to stand behind or do away with them and pat yourself on the back for finally making a profit for the first time in 12 years. Twenty-five cents was it?
