I have been working at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You are expected to learn and you'll have a lot of time to do that. Sign up bonus, sometimes relocation bonus, excellent compensation. You are working with the best, even though they are humble and they help you in anything you need (but don't expect them to spend a lot of time explaining, just ask for directions on where to find the documentation).

    Cons

Everything changes so fast. You have a LOT to learn in the beginning, Amazon has its own way of doing everything and you have to learn the best practices. No free lunch, but compensated with your earnings, so you can choose where to eat, anyways you'll lose some time there, and you are expected to do so. Noone will sit with you and explain how things work for more than 15 minutes, you'll have to read a lot, but it's worth it, after that you'll be more independent.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Financially
     - Opal travel card claims for daily work commute
    - Phone claims
    - Amazon RSU
    - Competitive pay

    Work life balance
    - 6 weeks paternity leave
    - 14 weeks maternity leave
    - work from home option

    Work culture
    - very understanding
    - culturally diverse

    Cons

    - occasional time crunch where you need to put in more work, rare
    - big organization with some international dependencies, response can be somewhat slow.
    - Sydney office does not have as many opportunities as the USA office.
    - still lack gender diversity but it is getting better
    - unlike some other tech giants, we are not pampered as much (Frugality).

    Advice to Management

    Have more skip level meetings.
Most techies are introverts, try to dig deeper rather than ask and wait for feedback.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Amazon allows their employees to take a great amount of ownership over ideas brought to the business. It is very exciting to be part of such a large organization that can still feel very much like a startup.

    Cons

A high level of ownership over your business also comes with great responsibility. The heavy workload in such an ambiguous environment can be difficult to manage at times. You need to draw boundaries for yourself, no one will do it for you.

    Advice to Management

So much is expected of employees that recognition is rarely given. More positive reinforcements and higher energy coming from the top would be beneficial to the morale of the group.

    Pros

Fun, surrounded by smart people, delivering real value to customers

    Cons

Depending on what you want - it's high pressure, long hours, lots of travel, and some may not like that

    Advice to Management

Drive more consistency into management and onboarding to get the most out of new hires and help them ramp up

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pace is intense; great to throw yourself fully in to.

Great culture; everyone is there to get the job done and has their own quirks. No robots here.

Career progression; due to company growth rate and the internal support for employee growth, finding opportunities to grow into is not hard. There is no waiting for someone to leave to progress.

    Cons

Pace is intense; this is not great for everyone and managing burn-out is a real issue.
