I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I came to AWS from another large software company based in the Seattle area. I'm in field sales and have a great team. Customers love us and the work is very fulfilling. Company values are solid; at least from what I see on my specific team and the teams we work with.

    Cons

Still growing super fast. But hard to get people through the hiring pipeline.

    Advice to Management

Keep the focus on the customer. It's served Amazon well so far.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

    Cons

Rapid pace, which can also be good, forces you to focus and prioritize every day. You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations/hand holding from management, this company isn't for you.

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in on boarding, employee benefits, mentoring and career growth programs to make connections for individuals. There is such a wealth of opportunity but navigating can be a challenge especially with the pace of the work in front of you.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The level of autonomy to make decisions in the field is a critical factor to the level of career growth you can achieve and speed of results for customers.

    Cons

The business is growing so fast that many new Amazonians can be overwhelmed at first with the pace. My advice is to "slow down to speed up". Slow down to Earn Trust of Others by determine and communicate priorities, then use Bias for Action to Deliver Results.

    Advice to Management

    1) more investments (e.g. training, onboarding, mentorship) during the first 3 months of every new Amazonian 2) periodic check ins from trained "engagement" specialists.

I have been working at Amazon (Less than a year)

    Pros

Ease of app use, organization at the warehouse for pickup, ability to set my own availability through the app. Using the app is pretty easy, scanning packages with phone is also easy. I delivered 43 packages in a 4 hour period and the app provided the most efficient route and turn by turn navigation. App reminds you of your upcoming shift, which is helpful.

    Cons

No shifts available!! Seriously, I've only been scheduled ONCE in a 5 week period, despite having 30 hours set as when I'm available. Seems like they waaay over hired in my area. This is disappointing because I actually really liked my shift.

    Advice to Management

They say that scheduling is random, but I would suggest offering shifts first priority based on performance (on time arrival to warehouse, delivery of all packages, no complaints from customers, no misdelivered packages etc) then randomly assign the rest of the shifts.
