I have been working at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Everything , Career Opportunities, Compensations & Benefits, & Work/Life Balance.

    Cons

I don't have any "cons" at this time.

    Advice to Management

The on-boarding process could be a little more formalized. That being sitting through a couple of days with HR to go over benefits, make elections, and having to opportunity to ask them questions in person as things are gone over.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great salary, innovative fast growing company. Solid benefits and compensation package with strong opportunity for personal growth. Never a dull moment, as each shift is different and presents new challenges.

    Cons

difficult to plan home life and build stable relationships with ever changing work force. Innovation and change can lead to frustrations with process development. Unreasonable expectations on performance standards can be frustrating.

    Advice to Management

Focus as much on the people as the process, develop and invest in your guys and they will do more for you. Look hard at lower level compensation, and reward those hourly associates who perform better than the minimum. 10-12 hours in a warehouse without music or entertainment is tough, consider bringing back music in the fulfillment centers.

I worked at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Ability to work on projects that truly have a big impact on major industries. Program Managers are given great responsibilities and the empowerment to execute.

    Cons

Promotions are more of a popularity contest than anything else. TONS of meetings. Difficult to truly disconnect when off work.

    Advice to Management

Allow middle managers to properly reward and compensate their employees. Make promotion criteria more transparent

    Pros

Amazon is the greatest firm I have ever had the pleasure of working for. This includes Microsoft, DoD, Walmart, and more.
    +Smartest most driven people
    +Not for the faint hearted
+Limitless opportunity to change and grow in any technology or field

    Cons

    -Smartest most driven people
    -Not for the faint-hearted
    -Self-starters only
    -Sink or Swim

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing, watch out for the culture creep when hiring from so many of your stagnant competitors.

    Pros

Dynamic work environment and exciting technology. Very structured and metrics driven performance evaluation process. Quarterly promotional cycles and plenty of career advancement and lateral move opportunities.

    Cons

Keeping up with constant and fast technology changes. Pressure from working with some of the very smart and hardworking co-workers at AWS as well as from trying to meet high customer expectations.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I came to AWS from another large software company based in the Seattle area. I'm in field sales and have a great team. Customers love us and the work is very fulfilling. Company values are solid; at least from what I see on my specific team and the teams we work with.

    Cons

Still growing super fast. But hard to get people through the hiring pipeline.

    Advice to Management

Keep the focus on the customer. It's served Amazon well so far.

I have been working at Amazon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

    Cons

Rapid pace, which can also be good, forces you to focus and prioritize every day. You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations/hand holding from management, this company isn't for you.

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in on boarding, employee benefits, mentoring and career growth programs to make connections for individuals. There is such a wealth of opportunity but navigating can be a challenge especially with the pace of the work in front of you.
