I have been working at Amazon full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It completely depends what team you are on. Some teams you will receive brainless work, but luckily on my team we get some actual work. Casual environment Flex hours and work from home Not micro managed-- no one breathing down your neck Get to do work in my field that I enjoy and find rewarding-- a lot of control over what I do day to day Good stepping stone to have amazon on your resume and gain some skills

    Cons

Amazon likes hiring "peculiar" people, so some of your coworkers will be quite odd/incompetent This is definitely a low tier job so you won't get much power and management won't always listen to your opinion Can be difficult to advance depending on team Low pay Amazon likes to have everyone manage something/be in charge of an area even if they cannot do the job. A lot of incompetent managers, PMs, etc.

    Advice to Management

Don't just hire someone because you like them, get actual skilled employees.

I have been working at Amazon full-time for more than 6 years

      Pros

Extensive opportunity for growth, both in scope of any individual role, as well as cross-functionally through lateral transfers. Drive your own development and seek out mentors/high-impact projects. There is a lot of autonomy to complete work however best you operate (i.e. work from home, nice office spaces, etc.) Pay is competitive and benefits are great, particularly maternity and parental leave and certain commuter...

With any company, a bad manager can ruin an employment experience, but that is not unique to Amazon.

I have been working at Amazon full-time for more than 6 years

      Pros

I love the freedom to be myself at work, to be friendly and socialize with coworkers, to bring my dog with me and see how excited he gets to see all my coworkers. I love the level of intelligence and attention to detail my coworkers have, they really encourage me to grow and expand my skill set. I love the diversity of our hires. I work with people of all ethnicities from the entire globe and it makes work so much more...

      Cons

You get a lot of flack from the public working for Amazon. There are a lot of assumptions and misconceptions about our work environment or what our company values are. If you're brave enough to set an example and speak out about what working for Amazon is truly like, it is definitely worth it.

      Advice to Management

Continue to prioritize work life balance and maintaining long term employees. Be mindful of stress levels and employees that tend to over-extend themselves. Continue to make diverse hires and support people of all genders, ethnicities, and sexual orientations. Always remember we are people first and employees second.

      Cons

High call volume. Impossible to meet metrics (they WERE fine. They're getting harder and harder)

      Advice to Management

Upper management really needs to take a look at what csas face everyday

I have been working at Amazon full-time for more than a year

      Pros

One thing to call out is that as Amazon is a large company, your experiences will vary based on your team. I have largely only had positive experiences and am very happy I made the transition to work at Amazon. Some of the pros I've experiences: - I am constantly challenged by incredibly smart and hard-working individuals, the culture embraces learning new things and stretching yourself - I've been given significant...

      Cons

      - There isn't much sharing across teams in the company. I find out about what other teams are doing in the public news. - While benefits are very good compared to most companies, we're behind other tech companies. Having some support for childcare would be appreciated and make a difference.

      Advice to Management

Try to keep the culture consistently focused on the Leadership Principles, it's a great place to work.
