I worked at Amdocs full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great medical and 401k benefits.

    Cons

There are too many silos across the various teams. This atmosphere creates a lot of hostility between teams because everyone has the 'it's not my role' mentality.

    Advice to Management

Stop preaching the 'worklife balance' belief if you have no intention of following through with the practice. The biggest complaint while employed here from many sources was resource burnout. You hire from the bottom of the barrel and burnout those with the experience/knowledge. There is no focus on training individuals and in many cases, little regard for the clients as well. All management cared about on my project was reducing tickets for reporting purposes. It did not matter that the issue was actually resolved.

    I worked at Amdocs full-time

    Pros

    Excellent medical benefits and PTO

    Cons

No strategy, vision or long term direction. Management is clueless about issues and unwilling to listen/ unable to understand resulting in a culture of distrust. Work involves constantly fighting fires that were easily preventable to begin with had there been proper planning and communication in place

I have been working at Amdocs full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Health Insurance & Vacation. ( if you are able to utilize it )

    Cons

Poor Management ( Mid level to Sr ). This company treats employees as a number unless you belong to a certain ethnic group. If you dont belong to that group, you will be treated badly and your concerns are brushed aside as HR is a non-existent entity . I haven't seen such a poor HR group in any major company
No career growth and promotions only happen to that ethnic group, especially if you are in some testing groups where the bias is extreme
If you are dependent on them due to immigration , they will make sure to overload you with work with no career progression.

    Advice to Management

Management is fake , and is least bothered about its employees.

I have been working at Amdocs as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers are by and large great people to work with. They were talented, and professional.

Pay is about the same as most. Nothing to write home about.

    Cons

Management was disorganized and driven by AMDocs needs vs what the client needs or wanted. Was frequently told to disregard the client management we were hired to work with, in favor of long term goals of Amdocs to expand the contract to other Amdocs employees.

Was often told by people that our goal was to focus on the needs of Amdocs - and not the client, to expand our reach into the clients company over the needs of the actual projects.

In several cases management got involved directly - and would berate, and sometimes scream at you over the phone for doing the job asked for by client because it didn't fit into the long term goals they had for the department.

Client fired management, new management came in, and started the process again. Over all really not impressed. Of the six people I began with, at the end of six months, all but myself had quit. At the end of the year I'd been through 3 Amdocs supervisors and 2 managers. I was still with the client. Client asked me to train the replacement and continued to help him out a month after I had left - so have to assume I was not the problem.

    Advice to Management

You're hiring good people. Listen to them. Ignoring them to expand personal departmental visions or goals is self-destructing.
