I have been working at Amdocs full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hikes are better than Industry average, Yearly bonus and again which depends on "performance" of the individual in the project.

    Few projects have onsite travel.

    Cons

Work life balance sucks here in Amdocs. People end up working more than 11 -12 hours a day and weekends too.

The company culture is too bad. Cheap politics even at low level. Amdocs is a breeding place for employees who are reluctant to help each other.

People who start their career here are really being misled by their seniors as they take them as examples and continue these type of unethical practices.

And not to forget this place is being rum by managers who are in complete control and the HR people as always only listen to managers who are never bothered about employee satisfaction.

There is no such thing called process here.

    Advice to Management

HR needs to intervene and implement employee friendly policies and also regular discussion with employees regarding any issues needs to be done.

I have been working at Amdocs full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule is about the only Pro I can think of.

    Cons

No work life balance. If you enjoy sitting and working 12 hours a day, then you will enjoy this company. Management does not value knowledge, they are driving the work force to India. Yearly increases and bonus are about every 3rd year.

    Advice to Management

Yearly increase and a bonus should go to everyone that contributes or no one, going to a selective few makes for an unhappy work culture. I wish management valued their US work force.

    Pros

No pros for the interview selection process. It seems mockery happened at that day.

    Cons

    Cons were at plenty.
For technical recruitment at Chennai of Amdocs( Covenant India was consultancy), there was a panel for tech interview which comprised of a girl and a sardar guy. I believe either they were best coder themselves or were present there just for passing time and making fun of candidates.

They were mocking people in front of them and after a candidate left, they even mocked them so badly that their laughing voice was could be heard from outside clearly. And whatever you answer, they found problem with it. And you better remember all functions of java as they would ask you to write a full program on paper and if small mistake happens the whole question would go wrong even if you have explained the concept correctly.

Still don't understand what was their main purpose.

    Advice to Management

Please don't send these kind of lamens for interview. If a candidate comes for interview, it is obvious that he would be nervous. So what would if he meets these lamens? He would loose confidence and you might fail to hire a good candidate because of this kind of stupidity..

Please, next time, for tech interviews, give tech panels a laptop so that this paper writing thing could be eliminated.

Please understand programming languages are vast. Nobody could remember all things clearly.

I worked at Amdocs as a contractor

    Pros

Good End Client, and can learn lot of stuff if you are ready to work 24x7

    Cons

    No professionalism what so ever.
no pay for extra work and you would have to work off hours, support etc.
    Shady contract deals
Only work here if you absolutely have to and there is no other choice.

I worked at Amdocs full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Can become a stable job if you are placed in a stable department
    - Healthcare benefit

    Cons

    - 12 month salary with a questionable 13-month bonus
    - Biased end-year compensation plan
    - Hard or smart work is not valued
    - Horrible Life/work balance [average of 80 hours per week under a 40 hours contract without overtime payment]

    Advice to Management

I can respond to the REAL question for anyone interested in applying for a job and that is how careers advance in Amdocs.

This review applies for Amdocs DVCC in Cyprus.
At least the EMEA Amdocs branches follow a similar culture to the description given below.

Hence, there are only two ways that you can get promoted in Amdocs.
If you cannot "adapt" to those 2 ways, then don’t bother joining Amdocs as you will waste your years for no reason.

I should note here and emphasize on it, that Hard or Smart work is not one of the refereed reasons. So don't join Amdocs, if your expectations follow the thinking of getting rewarded for your work.

If you are deciding to join Amdocs, then check if you are a person that matches either of the 1 of 2 types. If you are not, there is no other way for you to advance, just apply elsewhere.

Those are the only 2 types of people that get promoted in Amdocs:
    —————————————

First way is by already knowing someone else higher up the management, that will push you over the ranks. Work ethic is not considered, it is just an advantage.

If you don’t have someone to push you up, then you need to follow the second way.
The second way is simple and requires to become a bootlicker of low morals.
There is no other way. What I mean? I will explain below.

    —————————————

Let’s say you worked for 4 years and you made one great coworker and friend that worked with you since day 1 and even helped you with everything until then.
The aspect of learning inside Amdocs usually receives no assistance or training, as you have to learn everything by yourself by the tasks coming by from day 1.
The only help you can count at, comes in the form of coworkers that willingly give you their own time to help you for no benefit. If you are lucky to receive the luxury.
Thus for the first 2 years, you completed every deadline and task set to you successfully, even if the task assigned was sometimes clearly set for a different job position.
But your work amount and success on tasks didn’t matter until now, instead you continuously got excuses from HR for an obvious reason, since you didn’t lick the boot of every manager imaginable up to that point.

So you suddenly decide to become a bootlicker from being tired of waiting and they finally decide to promote you even if you did less work than your friend.
Still your friend is not angry with you, instead he is happy.
But 6 months later, those same managers receive a new project and a bunch of tasks with it.

The upper management tells you that there will be no hiring, instead you see huge salary raises on people that were never available when the work and tasks were around.
Managers request/demand that you need to push the team below you as hard as you can to get the work done.
The only person you know being capable to do this much work is your good friend and coworker.
Not knowing what to do, you push all the sophisticated work to him.

Your friend eventually becomes stressed due to the extra long work schedules, but the management above keeps pressuring you to push him even harder as you have to lick their boots some more at the same time.
And at some point 2 years later, your friend actually becomes sick from overwork and his eye health develops a serious issue.
We are talking at least 100 hours per week on busy schedules without overtime paid.
The management learns about the health issue as he asked to work for regular hours and he approaches you and asks you to fire your good friend.
He tells you to hire someone else in his place and if you find a much cheaper labour guy, then you will even get another promotion.

Meanwhile your friend tells you that he will need a short sick leave, even if he never took a day off during the past 2 years for his health problem.
You tell him to make patience for 3 more months and he will be able to get it.
He reluctantly agrees with you and continues his work.

During those 3 months, you tell him that you will put him in easier tasks out of concern and you get him off the main projects.
You instead place him into writing manuals for the whole time of the 3 month period, describing the work he is doing and how he is doing it.
And finally when the day comes for his sick leave, you call him to your office and with a silly excuse and an HR assistant on your side you fire him.

If you are this guy, then you are perfect for Amdocs.

    —————————————

I hope I helped you get the general view to whoever is interested into deciding if a career in Amdocs is the correct path for you or not. Those are the ONLY 2 ways to get promoted.
If you don't believe me and expect to find another way to get an actual career advancement in Amdocs, then you will only manage to waste your years.
Totally honest here, you can go ahead and try it yourself.

Thanks for taking your time reading this review,
    ex-Amdocs Employee.

    Pros

Amdocs lost the best reason to work with, it is filled with full of idiots who does not understand how technology works

    Cons

very old managers esp Indian team, because of them GL's and team members suffers, as they do not know the technology they play lot of politics to sustain their position, HR is like a trash bin they never care about employees. if someone planning to join means killing ones career

    Advice to Management

remove the manager who are not interested in learning esp OSS division, none of the manager has the capability to understand new technologies and managing good techies

    Pros

There are no pros to working here this place is a garbage

    Cons

Unless you are a Jewish male this is not the place for you. There are no opportunities for advancement, blacks and other minorities are all but forgotten. There are no blacks in any senior management positions and you could probably count on your fingers how many blacks there are in the company over all. Woman do not fair any better as there is one woman in a senior management position and women are always the first to go.
Raises and bonus' are given to the males of the company first and then whatever is left over is distributed to those lower on the food chain. You may average a 1% raise if you are lucky and a $2000 bonus which is double taxed so you will end up with nothing.
If you are thinking about working for Amdocs run quickly in the other direction..

    Pros

Amdocs offers the opportunity to work with people around the globe. If I were to recommend Amdocs at all, it would be because of the people.

    Cons

The management at Amdocs are so removed from the employees- and don't look for or listen to input. The company as a whole is so focused on saving money that it inhibits your ability to do your job well.
