I worked at Amdocs full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You get to build a lot of "working together" skills since products require interacting with many internal teams, eg if you are part of their CRM suite your system has apis calling OMS(their ordering system), Enabler(billing system) etc and all of them consistent bugs :)

Pay is decent since it is mostly present in low cost of living locations like STL,ATL,Dallas and benefits are good - specially for employees on L1 visa, you get tickets for the whole family to&from to your home country once a year.

    Cons

Code quality is not that great, most of the products are complex and written with obsolete technologies. Need to move faster.

Lot of support work onsite, i.e bug fixing, oncall support, no real dev work onsite, thats all ofshore.

    Advice to Management

I guess they know what they are doing - using offshore to shell out code through relatively cheap developers and then selling in expensive western countries, they can probably pass on more of benefits to the employees!

    Cons

As most of the positions are project related - a good chance that as soon as the project will be ended , you may need to find yourself a new position .

    Advice to Management

Old management (over 20 years in the company - don't be so arrogant !!!

I have been working at Amdocs (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are excellent better than most companies.
Many New Initiatives in-process to try and improve culture.

    Cons

Arrogant leadership team who still treats individuals that they should be happy they have a job. Limited opportunities to grow especially in the larger divisions.
There are a lot of good new programs such as Inspire that are dedicated to diversity & inclusion but there does not feel like a real shift/change is occurring in the organization.
Culture, individuals don't speak to you when you enter the break room or walk down halls. Some Managers/Leaders are very selfish and not about the people and consider wanting to move to a new role within the organization as dis-loyalty.

    Advice to Management

Great Programs and Initiatives but you need to walk the talk.

    Cons

Average population gets a constant growth and there are less of corporate initiative to build and focus on their career. So in a way company is too much focused on his top layer candidates only.

    Pros

Company is growing and a leader in their field. There is a concerted effort in place to change the company culture to provide better mid-level management.

    Cons

Managed Services division provides a lot of the bread and butter revenue for the company, resulting in constant pressure on the bottom line. This results in regular head count reduction of more seasoned employees.C level management is focused more on the Telcom OSS software that the company is best known for.

    Advice to Management

Continue efforts to develop line manager culture and capabilities and invest in processes, morale and skills to ensure business continuity for the company.
