I have been working at Amdocs full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay is ok, Health benefits are good. Offices can be nice as fac staff there is trying to make improvements.

    Cons

Projects with insane timelines to keep clients happy. Amdocs delivers alright, over the bodies of it's staff.

You can move up if you are Israeli. Otherwise, just wait in the back of the bus, for a longtime. Promotions, bonus, raises, etc go to the Israeli first, and everyone else third no matter how good you are.

The same goes for your role or job duties, you end up doing the crummy work while any good roles will be given to Israeli brought over either from within the company or a friend hired on from outside. The amount of protectionism is really sad.

HR dept is a mess, every year the process is changed and you have little to know idea what you will be graded on. Management feedback is nonexistent and you are left guessing if you are doing a good job or not. Once you get your grade from the annual review, it is to late to do anything about it and you are stuck with it for the year as there is no grievance process.

    Advice to Management

Values program was a nice idea but appears to be nothing more than lip-service now. Give the staff a grievance process and STOP agreeing to these project timelines just kiss the client's rear end

I worked at Amdocs full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good culture, Amdocs is topmost player in its domain. Workplace is very competitive and good people around.

    Cons

You can not grow much here specially if you are not Jewish, there is big favor for Jewish folks even if they are not as good as other people. They get promoted quickly and most of the managers are Jewish.

Amdocs concentrates only on telecom domain, so there are very few options outside Amdocs, some of the products and technology are only used in Amdocs so if you are stuck in those projects it will be very difficult to move out.

Very long work hours and you would be give work in out of proportion.

    Advice to Management

Get some diversity in upper management. Some linguistic/accent training for managers from Israel, its very hard at time to understand what they say :) in important meetings.

generous vacation allowance - better than most

    Cons

    - discourages independent thinking
    - process and hierarchy oriented
    - moves slowly

    Advice to Management

innovation, growth, breakthroughs don't happen when you limit or discourage any creative, out-of-the-box thinking, or feel threatened explaining your decisions and practices.

I have been working at Amdocs full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Flexible schedule, ownership, view, breakfast

    Cons

Working with Indians and Israelis at once can be tricky. Most of the folks lack any professionalism and civility. A lot of slackers. There are more people than work and people create non nonsensical work to fill time and justify position. Ex. In one team, there are 1 VP, 1 Director, 3 Managers, 4 leads, 1 developer, and 4 testers.

    Advice to Management

See who is actually getting the work done. Usually it's the one at the bottom. If you don't take care of the person doing the actual job within the timelines, you will never be able to retain good talent.

    Pros

Has policies very friendly to employees. Very good exposure large telecom and cable client services and working cultures. Has very talented technical employees.

    Cons

Amdocs Champaign management are all internal employees promoted to management. BUT, None of them have any management or people skills, not even basic courtesy. Very high prevalence of Nepotism and back-stabbing politics. Their only offer of retaining departing employees - ' Do you have a spouse, we can offer them job here '

    Advice to Management

Improve working environment by focusing on long-term development of employees. Trust your employees and delegate responsibility. Micromanagement and petty politics should be discouraged. Practice basic management skills - say at least 'Thank you' and 'Please'.

I worked at Amdocs full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You'll get to work with some large clients and potentially in an interesting arena such as mobile.

    Cons

Management lacks transparency with both employees and clients. There seems to be a lot of people working but only a few actually getting things done.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time building better teams and training employees who need it.
