I have been working at Amdocs full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    a) Was an employee friendly with adequate compensation. Not anymore . May be you can get lucky if you are assigned to high value project or are a favorite (not based on ur work or knowledge or experience )

    Cons

    a) Was an employee friendly with adequate compensation. Not anymore . May be you can get lucky if you are assigned to high value project or are a favorite (not based on ur work or knowledge or experience ) a) Nepotism , Cronyism , Favoritism , Red tapism rampant in this company. Regardless what they say of labor laws, there is distinct discrimination of workers based on your country origins. Israelis gets preference in everything b) HR policies differs from person to person, project to project and group to group.HR and Immigration department- They are the most arrogant and not transparent at all. Internally they have exception for their own to grow themselves . Not a good employee facing division. c) Amdocs ratio of management to actual worker are skewed upside down. More managers than software engineers atleast on onshore . d) Company was product company at one point of time and now lost direction with nor here or there. Management style is product based (no bench policy etc) while client interaction and money is more on service based maintenance project. and senior to mid management does not want to evolve. e)Most of the mid management are clueless ,inept. They just enjoy the position they are in where they cannot do any customer interaction or know their own product properly. They will simply stay in limelight if going is good else put forward your face (experts and developers) if something not correct. They will not back you up nor fight for you as i guess they have to survive themselves. Worst spineless mid management. f) Employee welfare is least in the minds. No job security . instilled a sense of fear for all lower rungs and asking for more work else laid off. No value of loyalty . you will thrown out at drop of a hat. even if there is a demand in other areas , they will drop you but not put you on the project which has requirement and hiring. Really strange practice . f) terrible work life balance if you happen to be in a project with more managers than worker. g) Dont care of your level of technical expertise or expereince. Totally focussed on $ and that too not out in overall company revenues but your own little subgroup . I have been a high performer and acknowledged well by customer also , but at time of bonus , career growth and salary increment you would be left behind based on your immigration status / country of origin

    Advice to Management

Really need to overhaul your HR policies , Mid management - if company really want to succeed . Put emphasis and find out who is real worker. Implement true devops with more developers, lead , new technology managers if you want to succeed in new customer demands as per market. Put emphasis on growth knowledge/financial/career of these real worker with adequate support from HR/Immigration. Remove nepotism/cronyism/favoritism/discrimination else you will left with only your favorites who cannot produce result and hence drown . Last 10 years , while company grew only from 2 billion to 3 billion , many other services company with equal workforce grew from 2 to 8-9 billion in revenues. Amdocs did not foray with other technoloy sectors. Due to lack of mid management support and their lack of vision (upgrade) , products that were acquired by amdocs decade back are breathing their last for eg: Clarify QPASS etc. if trend continues then eventually newly acquired companies will also die if Amdocs management vision does not broaden and being more employee centric policies to drive innovation. they need to come out of their shell of their core product and acknowledge it does not scale as per market demands.

I worked at Amdocs full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good benefits including salary, bonus, health insurance, 401K and a generous amount of vacation days compared to other places in the US.

    Cons

The company management had failed in almost every way to keep this company relevant. Today in this company there are a substantial amount of employees which work with technologies which were invented over 20 years ago. Over the years Amdocs has failed to renew itself and keep up to date with the market and thus its future is uncertain. The company is currently straggling and reducing costs and employees (especially anywhere besides India), I guess they want to turn into Tech Mahindra rather than become more like Google :) Another downside is that the company doesn't provide an adequate work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

Refresh your ranks, throw away your core products, they are not relevant anymore and concentrate 100% on new technologies. Also, stop creating frameworks, the wheel was invented, no need to reinvent it and then place a stick in the wheel, so to speak. Shuky Sheffer just became a CEO, like, yesterday... so not much option on him.
