    Pros

Not bad if you don't mind getting underpaid, have low ambition, and don't really care.

    Cons

Technical incompetance at all levels promotes diffusion of accountability and "poor" client service.
    Senior.middle management clearly delusional.
Overall, working at MACTEC should be considered as a "risk" to the individual's professional reputation.

    Advice to Management

Find a new job, or else get to know what the project level staff is doing.

I have been working at Amec Foster Wheeler full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

excellent insurance. co-workers work together on a project and goals.

    Cons

Tell them 2 weeks before in person AND in writing you have to take your kid to the HOSPITAL for minor surgery and then they get mad when they FORGET. Promising CEO's impossible deadline quota's then blames the engineer team and punishes us, even when we state that deadline or goal is not foreseeable but would be in the time allot needed. HR is a joke to. Funny for them I am sure.

    Advice to Management

listen to who is telling you things that you didn't ask. Examine if 30 people are unhappy with one person's management capabilities and outlandish behavior- it might be on the Manager- not the 30 people just trying to do the best job they can without some LOSER screaming at them for no reason.

    Cons

Poor management. And it became worse as management and changed with company buyouts

    Advice to Management

Learn to listen to your excellent employees. Teach middle management how to manage.

I worked at Amec Foster Wheeler full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    1. If any other engineering firms rejects you and you need a job fast.
    2. If you have a lack of integrity and pride in your work.
    3. If you're incompetent and looking to just hide in your cube for a paycheck.
    4. If you're OK with HR and Senior Management hiring grossly incompetent people because they're all friends.
    5. If you're OK with constant promises, but no follow up or action taken on any reasonable request.

    Cons

    1. Obvious glass ceilings
    2. HR has been caught red-handed multiple times trying to perform illegal actions and other unethical behavior against employee records upon departure.
    3. If you're an engineer and you're a contractor; prepare to be blamed for the failures of the seniors there. If you're in general operations, prepare to have a severe lack of budget (except for anything related to Safety that they call HS&E) and plenty of blame to go around.
    4. Management and senior management across multiple departments try to hide incompetency and failures by keeping people "quiet" without reporting to their UK corporate HQ.
    5. No one will accept responsibility in any form that can be used as evidence (emails, recordings, or any official forms).

    Advice to Management

Houston management needs to turn in their resignation papers.

I have been working at Amec Foster Wheeler full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work schedule of every other Friday off

    Cons

Horrible Management. Management likes to babysit you all day everyday (micromanaging). Not enough work to fill a whole day. Complaints about not using your time off when you happened to sit in 2 hours of traffic in the morning on 78. No room to grow, no promotions. Constant lay-offs when work dries up, then will bring in consultants (ex-employees) at outrageous costs when current employees are lucky to get a 2% raise each year.

    Advice to Management

Go to school and take some management classes.

I have been working at Amec Foster Wheeler full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

9/80 schedule that's the only pro!!!!

    Cons

Gossip, back-stabbing. High turnover. Management doesn't care. They place people in management roles based solely on a friendship. Experience is not needed if you have a friend in a higher position. Lazy employees, no real idea of processes & procedures. Benefits are not good anymore. Raises are a joke!

    Advice to Management

Go back to the drawing board & start all over!!!

I worked at Amec Foster Wheeler full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some of the staff are very cool, others not much. 401K plan is awesome.

    Cons

No recognition for completed work, overworked, pay raises stink if you're not upper management. Zero accountability on the end of some upper management. Below average and way below average salaries. Too many chiefs, not enough indians.

    Advice to Management

People are your greatest asset, treat them as such. A well paid employee is a happy employee. You can't get blood from a stone, so try not to harden your workers. Good or bad you will see the results of such actions. Pay people their worth, not what you think you can get away with.
