I have been working at Amec Foster Wheeler full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Large company with experience across the globe. If you come up with a process to do things better, management seems to be open to it.

    Cons

Co broken out into separate business units that, unfortunately, don't "talk" to one another. There's no shared database of projects or employees across units so you never really know what you've done or the experts you have working for you. For such a large company there aren't a lot of processes to help you get things done in a more efficient manner. Spend more time doing searches for info that should be readily available (no. of registered engineers in a business unit for example) than you should. Also, becoming "leaner" (e.g. downsizing) as company goes through another round of management changes.

Invest in your lower level employees by paying them a fair salary

I have been working at Amec Foster Wheeler full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of good staff work at this company that offer good global expertise. Once you make it to status of key employee this company takes care of you.

    Cons

Certain tools and programs are so old which creates redundancy and unnecessary overhead.
Small sized Clients seem to be deemed less important and overlooked. This eliminates growth for younger staff and also the ability to expand on new opportunities which probably reduces easy revenue for the firm.

    Advice to Management

    None

I worked at Amec Foster Wheeler full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

On the engineering side it has good systems, ok training, friendly atmosphere, excellent compensation.

    Cons

Work ran out in the Saskatoon M&M office. What was once a headcount of 600 is down to 70. In spite of that managers were being parachuted in from other AMECFW offices to hide/protect them. The merger with FW really hurt AMEC as FW was ALL oil which tanked soon after.

    Advice to Management

Had a good client in PCS, maybe even KSPC, but when it came to Mosaic or BHP they walked away as AMECFW had too much bloat and was too expensive.

    Cons

Company in growing pain phase after merger, no backlog to keep seasoned experienced people working

    Advice to Management

Integrate processes and ideas company wide, work on overhead costs to ensure adequate backlog to keep people working from job to job
