I have been working at Amec Foster Wheeler full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I was given room to advance in position and was given training and tuition reimbursement to get a college degree. Management continued to give me challenging roles. I learn something new nearly every day. Good benefits.

    Cons

Very busy in the summer months during peak construction season, and slows down at times in the winter. It is hard to keep everyone busy during the winter, but it seemed to work out for me. It is stressful as a consultant because you rarely have real job security since you don't know what project will come next until it starts and the client is asking for you.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

I have been working at Amec Foster Wheeler full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good Training. Benefits are comparable to other companies

    Cons

Some management lacks skills. Wide gap between young and old engineers

    Advice to Management

Hire competent engineers. Transition to AMEC management reduces confidence of employees to the direction of the company

I worked at Amec Foster Wheeler full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was very supportive and helpful for my career, through which I have experienced and learned many many new technical things from my senior s. While working with Amec I was feeling as comfortable as I work for my own firm.

    Cons

However, a very tight schedule and dealines for some projects were very tough, but due to working hard and taking the valuable advices of my Technical Manager made them much easier for me to reach the goal and submit the projects within their time frame.

    Advice to Management

Since, Amec has many many offices worldwide and I as one of the former staff of Amec would say that try your best not to lose any employee. If possible to provide them with some facilities to work for you from anywhere he moves to. Like, I used to work as a key member of Design and Master Planning section back in Afghanistan, but now I am not Amec employee anymore, however, I need a job.

I have been working at Amec Foster Wheeler full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Worldwide locations, Excellent compensation package. Friendly and helpful employees.

    Cons

Some of the Houston office work is being awarded to other worldwide locations and they are having to lay off American workers in the Houston office.

    Advice to Management

Push back on AMECs tendency to ship work overseas. These projects started in Houston, let's keep them in Houston.
