I worked at Amec Foster Wheeler full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flex time; vendor luncheons were informative; inhouse training; work closely with leads and also given design freedom ...

    Cons

None really. The company is now under AMEC former Paragon. I have not worked for them but would like to.

    Advice to Management

No advice. Keep up communications across disciplines to adhere to concept of the task force.

I worked at Amec Foster Wheeler full-time

    Pros

Cheap basic (high deductable) health benefits and good 401k matching. Many highly experienced and friendly staff members. Hard working field personnel.

    Cons

Disconnect between managers and staff is palpitable. Not nearly enough in house work to justify the number of office project managers. Far too few field personnel to do the actual work that needs done. Very tense office environment. Emphasis on office income and "staying billable" was a laughable in light of the company penny pinching and not giving Christmas bonuses or raises. Pay and benefit package is not on par with other area consultanting firms. Human resources almost non-existent and onboarding was weak.

    Advice to Management

Make people your priority over short term profit and long term success will follow.

I worked at Amec Foster Wheeler (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The pay was not bad.

    Cons

The management at the Roswell Office has no interest in employee satisfaction. They allow "the inmates to run the asylum." Document Control consists of two women who have no business being engineering doc controllers--one hardly speaks English and the other has no idea how an engineering drawing should be put together. Both have horrible attitudes, but I've learned over my years, that the attitude comes down from the top.

    Advice to Management

No advice to management, they need to be restructured. Maybe they could go manage a fast food restaurant or something.

I worked at Amec Foster Wheeler full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent benefits. Amazing, knowledgeable, hard-working coworkers. Nice office building with competent HR department. Travel with work was well accommodated. Our department manager was very nice!

    Cons

My department was not very developed. Having a masters degree they still had me work under someone with a bachelors. Made me work under people with significantly less experience. Hard to get them to listen if you are new. Pay was terrible.

    Advice to Management

Pay employees market value. Direct your employees and really use them for what you hired them to do rather than limiting them by making them work under people with little or no experience.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Amec Foster Wheeler full-time

    Pros

Good company culture, speciality groups to join

    Cons

Lack of realistic forecasting leads to lay offs and poor hiring. New CEO cutting staff due to oil and gas sector. Feel like an automaton as opposed to human being
