I have been working at Amedisys part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Have worked both full time and prn in both hospice and home health. Have been a clinical manager and a field staff RN. I've found, especially in hospice, that this company really cares about their patients first but paradoxically also puts its employees first. Currently PRN in Hospice, I have never worked with a more compassionate group of people. Even during this Covid-19 crisis we are working to do everything possible to help our patients and families while keeping employees safe

    Cons

Paperwork, of course. Charting is electronic and irksome. Probably not more so than anywhere but still ...

I have been working at Amedisys full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Our CEO calls us all caregivers and I love that we can all say that it is our calling. I believe in what the organization is doing in the home health/hospice space by letting our patients age at home. The work environment and coworkers are awesome. I would highly recommend.

    Cons

Sometimes the workload is a bit overwhelming.

I worked at Amedisys full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

If you want to grow and move into new roles there is opportunity. The benefits are pretty good.

    Cons

The pay is not even across the board it is very frequent that a newer employee is paid more then then an older one I saw this as a manager privy to raises which rarely happen. There is no work life balance, people are not replaced and you are expected to work on with your now less then even skeleton crew like it’s not a barrier. HR does not exist to mediate but to protect upper management. Every employee I saw contact HR was fired or “came to an agreement” to leave with 1-2 months of calling them. And that’s the biggest con. Your success is not dependent on the value you bring, the success of your care center, your time with the company or anything work related but wether upper management likes you. Moving from one end of the country to another showed a completely different side of amedisys. Went from being a star employee to never doing anything right but curiously both care centers did the best they ever did while I was there including getting a home health elite award. But that doesn’t matter because what’s valued is not results but wether you sing the praises of an upper management that quite frankly is nothing but overhead cost.

I have been working at Amedisys full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You'll feel so good about working here - every day, we help people who need us the most, whether it's home health, hospice or personal care!

    Cons

Teams are fairly lean, but that just means there is more opportunity to dive in and really make a difference.

I have been working at Amedisys

    Pros

Hospice is a calling and I am fortunate to be able to have a career as well as answer my true calling. The local care center has a gifted team. The patients and teammates are the best part of the job.

    Cons

Balancing home and work life. Hospice is not like home health- visits should take more time since these people are dealing with end of life issues. It is not and should not be task driven. These individualized patient needs and time allowance for this should be considered.

I have been working at Amedisys full-time

    Pros

    Pay- if you negotiate it.

    Cons

Very limited information during interviewing. Not informed of the weeks of online “training” that is ahead at an admin hourly rate. Low expectations of patient care, documentation, care coordination. Best said by one discipline when I was shadowing, “They just want a warm body behind the note for billing”. Scheduling is a joke. You are told “X” amount of visits must be seen a day (more than competing home health agencies) then 2 times that will be on your daily schedule because the scheduling dept just wants their cue/load cleared. Some peers and other clinicians put in the bare minimum for time and fabricate their treatment.

    "Great Company!"

    5.0
    Former Employee - PTA

    I worked at Amedisys full-time

    Pros

I had great coworkers and management here! The pay was decent even though I was covering a very large service area for our office, I never felt like I wasn’t being paid fairly. Management really cares about their employees and will do everything they can to help out!

    Cons

Normal home health issues such as fluctuating hours and having to take work home, but the company is at no fault here.

I worked at Amedisys full-time for less than a year

    Pros

My heart is in home health, and I loved the patients.

    Cons

The branch I worked for in Anmoore, WV had horrible office staff. The administrator was usually there about 4 hours/day. Very poorly managed, no office support. All about the bottom dollar.
