I have been working at Amegy Corporation part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed the culture of this bank. They don't push sales as much as other banks. They focus on customer service.

    Cons

They need to hire better leaders. The managers are micro managers. They also don't address bad employees and promote unfit managers.

    Advice to Management

    Higher pay and more incentives.

I worked at Amegy Corporation part-time

    Pros

It was a great place to work for as a part-time teller. I loved everything about it. Most of everyone that I got to work aside was nice and helpful, made work not feel like work. It was really like working with family. Training program was excellent was one week long 8-5.

    Cons

Everything was wonderful until manager was promoted to different location and new manager from another location took over. She hated the way our team worked and decided to clean house. Made work a living hell whenever she was in the office.

    Advice to Management

They should really keep an eye out for managers that have too much power.

I have been working at Amegy Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great work life balance of you can afford it. Manager is rarely in the office which is beneficial but at times detrimental to accomplishing tasks.

    Cons

Insurance is expensive. Raises are little. There is a lack of opportunity although turnover has been high. No opportunity to advance career.

    Advice to Management

The same names/people get promoted. Try something different for a change, you might be surprised.

I worked at Amegy Corporation full-time

    Pros

Great way to start gaining experience in the financial/banking industry. Fun people to work with. Nice locations, there are less than 10 locations in Dallas.

    Cons

It is very hard to advance your career outside of simple retail banking. There is not a lot of internal promotions within back office positions. Promoting happens primarily at the retail level from teller to banker.

I have been working at Amegy Corporation part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

They work well with scheduling time for family events or emergencies and you can really learn whatever you want above and beyond your position.

    Cons

Although they foster growth they prefer to hire outside for most positions. Tenure doesn't matter. Also they don't think things through or get employees opinions on changes to products but are always saying that our banking centers are the front lines. Could use a spot on Undercover Boss...

    Advice to Management

Update your systems and when you ask for advice from your employees ACTUALLY listen

I have been working at Amegy Corporation (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The best reasons for working at Amegy was the atmosphere that we're all working toward doing the best thing for bank customers. The people who work there are caring, focused folks that want to do their best.

    Cons

The coming downside is that the company's owners decided to make changes to a well-oiled machine that made a profit. The changes were implemented with no input from those at Amegy Investments who the organization a success. Now the emphasize is changing from doing what's right for the client to maximum production.

    Advice to Management

Collaborate with those that have the knowledge and experience to create a better organization instead of reinventing the wheel

I worked at Amegy Corporation full-time

    Pros

Super easy job, lots of down time, fun group of people to work with.

    Cons

Lots of down time made it boring, and I watched the clock a lot, which makes the day longer.

    Advice to Management

    None

    Pros

The only pro was the group of people I worked with were awesome. They made the day go by a little faster

    Cons

Management sucked, always on the staffs back about sales even though we were referring people but the customers would get declined.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to teach rather than criticize. Be fair with promotions and recognize hard working employees.
