I worked at Amegy Corporation full-time

    Pros

Well managed commercial bank that understands its business and the industries it serves. Greatly appreciates its employees and compensation package is very good.

    Cons

Can get complicated at times working under a remote bank holding company with multiple sister banks working under different brand names in different states.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great service and good attitude working in a complicated bank holding situation.

I have been working at Amegy Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Wonderful family, the bank truly has a warm family environment. Very little conflict and the CFO is one of the founders and keeps the bank "real" with a small bank feeling for the clients and employees.

    Cons

Health insurance is expensive but honestly, the bank if following the current "Obamacare" trend. We have numerous employee from a competitor that have been laid off and keep comparing our benefits, salaries to their former employer. I don't get it, they were laid off, the company could not have been that wonderful. Very little turn around at the Executive Level, which is a sign of stability.

I have been working at Amegy Corporation full-time

    Pros

    Easy access to top management
    Many earning opportunities
Managers and coworkers very open to helping new employees learn and grow

    Cons

Healthcare coverage isn't very good now that amegy is a part of Zions. Some departments don't focus on hiring high quality employees so it affects other departments productivity.

    Advice to Management

Invest in training employees. Give more incentives to encourage those so some at the bottom don't feel like they are stuck in dead end jobs.

    Pros

    Very talented group of people
Company does seem to care about what employees think
    Encourages feedback from employees
    Local name recognition

    Cons

    Poor salary
    Could have better benefits
Not all departments have the same level of training
Bais towards those in the Credit Analyst Program

    Advice to Management

The leadership is what really makes this a great place to work. They do a great job of communicating to the company regardless of whether it is a critical change to the organization or whether it is just a note of thanks. As I mentioned before, they do take employee feedback seriously and try to take their opinions into consideration.

    Pros

It is a very conservative company, family oriented bank and you will learn a lot.

    Cons

There's not much growth and promotion within the company.

    Advice to Management

Be ready to think on your feet and out of the box. If you don't know, don't be afraid to ask questions.

I worked at Amegy Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Life / work balance is great, people are easy to work with, lots of opportunities for growing your professional network and starting a banking career.

    Cons

Owned by Zions Bancorporation which slows down Amegy. No real synergies from Zions' footprint, pretty much a stand alone separate entity.

I have been working at Amegy Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Mangers that support their staff and work with them to help them better themselves and get further in their carrerrs. The salary is also very competitive and Tellers typically get paid more at Amegy than they would at other banks (even the big banks)

    Cons

Some of the Managers can be petty and try to screw over other branches in order to help their branch out.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be more of a united front and less silly bickering among the Branch Managers and Assistant Managers. While we have branches that all have different goals we all work for the same company and should work together not against each other.
