I have been working at Ameren full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very stable company with great benefits. Company cares very well about employee safety. Salary is very good and is usually above average for entry levels. Very close community, senior employees always ready to help newer ones who may not be up to speed.

    Cons

For certain engineering disciplines, it might be a little restricted.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, especially your concern about employee safety.

I have been working at Ameren full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Ameren cares about it's employees and is always evaluating how to evolve with our changing needs. Benefits are better than any I've had elsewhere and advancement opportunities are available if you're willing to step up.

    Cons

Pace of change can be frustrating. Ameren likes everything to be done by consensus. This involves a lot of meetings, and a lot of people, in turn leading to a lot of time before anything really gets decided and done.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to move a little faster and empower people to make decisions. Change doesn't need to stay in the idea phase for long.

I have been working at Ameren full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Our CEO and Executive team have a great vision and engage employees.

    Cons

Our first line supervisors and mostly incompetent at people leadership. They are typically very knowledgeable in their field but are clueless when it comes to getting people motivated to meet their full potential.

    Advice to Management

Retrain/train supervisors in leadership skills. Make this mandatory so that the direction of the Executives trickles down to the first line.

I have been working at Ameren as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great culture in a reliable and valuable field. Coworkers are always willing to assist and everyone in the company is friendly.

    Cons

As is the case with many internships, the amount of work can be inconsistent. It is up to your coworkers to give you work to do.

    Advice to Management

Have more of a focus on what you need an intern for and have jobs/tasks ready for them to take on. It boosts productivity and the overall benefit of an internship.

Some of the best people I have ever worked with, great pay/benefits, everyone is treated as an equal individual and there's no place I would rather be

    Pros

Really involved in the community, cares for their employees, has great values and standards that they actually stick to. The company is looking in the future for the company with improving the infrastructure with the smart grid. Invests back in the community.

    Cons

Wish they gave the interns more of an opportunity to make an impact and get results that would improve the company.

    Advice to Management

Have an internship program that forces interns to make improvements that will result in great statements on a resume.

I worked at Ameren as an intern

    Pros

During my first internship, I was treated as an equal to many of the members of the team. I was given work at my level that was both interesting and challenging.

    Cons

It seems like interns in other departments were able to intermingle freely. I didn't meet any of the other interns even within IT until half way through my time at Ameren.
