I have been working at Ameresco full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This a great company to work for given the proper selection of who is hired so to make sure we are all a good fit to the company. The work environment feels safe and welcoming. The ability to use flex time is a great bonus that I have been very grateful for.

    Cons

The work load is overwhelming and the ability to keep deadlines almost seems impossible when working on different projects and trying to keep up with the personal work goals that are setup with you boss seems nearly impossible to even try to keep up with. The bonus compensation is nigh. Don't expect any bonuses for your hard work.

    Advice to Management

It would be nice to have a program where hard work is actually rewarded in the form of a bonus or recognition with whole company. It seems that only the management get rewarded and recognized while those that work very hard for them are not recognized for their hard work and getting the nearly impossible deadlines actually completed. The work-life balance doesn't not exist for me as I am trying to keep up with these deadlines.

    Pros

Ameresco employees some of the brightest and most dedicated individuals I've ever had the pleasure of working with. The compensation is fair. The company endeavors to pursue innovative projects in the industry, which keeps the work interest.

    Cons

Much of the day-to-day life is dictated by your manager. Thus, I find it often unfair that my co-workers enjoy benefits to which my manager doesn't prescribe to (e.g., flex time). Fifty+ hour work weeks are normal for some workers, while others barely work 30. Furthermore, there is a lack of continuity between regions. Operations and communications across the company are disjointed due to the Ameresco's strategy of quickly acquiring new companies without any sort of integration plan into the corporate structure (which is weak to begin with). I also find that there are few growth opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Implement mandatory corporate polices for all regions/acquisitions so information and expertise become accessible to all employees.

    Pros

Brilliant minds, solid group of people to work with, forward looking. Very positive environment , encouraging and engaging. Some corporate activities but limited.

    Cons

Lack of upper management commitment, big lack of communication from leadership team downwards. Wavering management commitment, fearful of making financial commitments

    Pros

Friendly people, great mentor, flexible schedule.

    Cons

Low pay, repetitive work, no chance to use my education.

    Advice to Management

Very flexible hours which I really like, however, management needs to be less involved with day-to-day work and more focused on actually managing the company and its people.
