    Pros

Even though there are 100+ employees, it has a close knit feel. Owner cares about everyone and talks to everyone (open door policy). A lot of employees have been there a long time (10+ years) so lots of talent and experience. Laid back atmosphere but everyone works hard to get their job done.

    Cons

Fast paced environment but that's what makes it so interesting and fun!

I worked at Amerex Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I met so many great people who taught me so much about the business that I am now using in my new job. Amerex was a great place to start my career and learn from some of the best people in the industry. the pace was definitely high octane and sometimes chaotic but it's no different anywhere else in this industry.

    Cons

Training is underdeveloped and needs to get better

    Advice to Management

update your training guidelines and new hire practices to ensure longevity

I worked at Amerex Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

my position was very laid back for design, my team was very close knit, and the senior designer I worked with was nice and respectful. Came in with very little experience and my team took the time to train me fully. I learned ALOT in an entry level role.
benefits are pretty good and working hours are until 5 (not 6 like many other companies). not super strict on lateness either. In my experience there were very busy seasons and very slow seasons where there was almost no work to do. Co-workers were nice and friendly and drama free. But again I got the feeling that different departments had a very different experience..

    Cons

-Upper management was cold and unfriendly
-there seemed to be almost zero room for growth (which is why I left).
-many days where I felt bored during the slow season (but I worked near designers that I literally saw crying at their desk from feeling overworked and stressed). Some teams were way over worked and others way under worked.
-Their method for designing is to buy expensive clothes and rip them off almost exactly but with cheaper fabrics/trims (although apparently this seems to be an industry wide standard?). Very little creativity. We could only use the cheapest fabric and trims possible making designing very limited.
-I got the impression that the company didn't care much about investing in its employees comfort and happiness in the office from little things like no free coffee, very messy cluttered work space, ancient kitchen appliances, HR was literally non-existent for months etc.

    Advice to Management

interact with your employees, give them yearly reviews! Take the time to get to know them, offer promotions to the employees that qualify and deserve it. Give employees incentive, encourage creativity.

    Pros

you learn everything about the job functions plus more

    Cons

Business expands, but management lays off employees very often. You put in a decade of time into your career and get laid off without notice, or the owner hires you to bring in sales from new customers then fires you before you get paid for your commission. They reduce the size of your team and dump all the work to current employees. You learn everything fast because you are taking responsibilities for multiple people. The company is known to offer the lowest salary with limited growth potential in the NY fashion industry. You never get a raise, promoted, nor appreciated for the time you put in. You are expected to work very long hours, weekends, and you are lucky if you leave the office at 9pm.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people and distribute the responsibilities. Appreciate those within the company and invest in your employees.

    Pros

Laid back, not a lot of pressure. You are pretty much left alone. Benefits, vacation.

    Cons

No room for advancement, managers won't meet with you, no raises for anyone ever. They prefer if you stay in the same position forever or leave. Eliminate positions without notice.

    Advice to Management

Learn employees names, meet with employees when they ask to speak to you, listen when they want more challenges.

I worked at Amerex Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very fast paced and diversified apparel group. A lot of growth potential. You will learn a lot about establishing relationships with clients in the fashion industry.

    Cons

It almost gets a little too hectic in the office at times. It's a competitive industry to be in and very time sensitive.

    Advice to Management

Hr could be a little bit bigger and more prominent for the company. I think that would help new employees much more.
