    Pros

Immediate supervisor is good. Employees care about day to day operations so that we can get the work done.

    Cons

The company lacks vision. They only care about their shareholders, which is good if you are a shareholder. They have little regard for their employees and even less for their customers.

    Advice to Management

    None, they wouldn't listen.

I worked at AmeriGas full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good Benefits you can earn vacation quick (if you every get to take it)

    Cons

Where do I start... Incredibly inexperienced managers. Heaven fobid something goes wrong because there isn't anyone left with knowledge. Additionally, if you screw up it's all on you... Staffing is always a challenge because no one sticks around. 24 on call every 4 days (you get calls constantly) , 55-60..Training is vert inadequate.

    Advice to Management

Hire experience! These guys fresh out of school have no real world experience. Propane is dangerous, hire people with knowledge. Also, spend more money on advanced training. The basics aren't enough.

I worked at AmeriGas as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Full-time hours and a paycheck

    Cons

They have a high turnover rate of new employees leaving, and if you are over 40 forget applying.... If you learn quickly and do productive work then this is not the job. You will constantly be cleaning up employees mistakes and errors while they continue to fail customers expectations.

    Advice to Management

Managers should set ethical examples and not have employees fear retaliation from them, the corporate office has no idea what corruption is at that location but when two managers resign on the same day, that should speak for itself. If you desire no career advancement then this is the company for you.

I have been working at AmeriGas full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good if they don't let you go due to the corporate executives worrying about how much their bonus is going to be.

    Cons

Company is very top heavy. Spends millions of dollars on ridiculous programs and such but will let the working people starve or even let them go if they think they aren't making a big enough profit.

    Advice to Management

Take care of the people that actually work and make you the money you have to live in your multi-million dollar homes.

    Neutral Outlook

    Pros

Salary seemed great until they inform you that 40 hours a week is not enough time. If you won't or can't or don't work on your own time, days off, weekends, vacation, holiday, than you are at the wrong company. Remember, salary means NO OVERTIME.

    Cons

Lack of concern for other human beings you work with. Unfair expectations. Lack of proper training sets you up for failure. If you are not young, you don't fit in or get treated properly. I had such high expectations and was so disappointed that I knew I had to leave and find a better position, which I did.

    Advice to Management

You must remember that people have lives outside of this company. A fair work / life balance is very important to the mental and physical health of your employees. People that are treated fairly are more productive and happier in the work place.

    Pros

    Cons

Good Luck getting hired in the Procurement department if you're a woman. Also, they create positions with certain people in mind so you never had a chance to get that job.

    Advice to Management

Tell your Managers they shouldn't freely admit they would never hire a woman.
