Great benefits - health, travel, 401k.

    Cons

As a flight attendant, you will work swing shifts, weekends and holidays probably for the rest of your career. To have high earnings you will have to be away from home almost all the time

    Pros

Good job if you love being away from home a lot. Pay is good if you fly above average hours. Grateful I have gotten to see the world.

    Cons

After a decade of flying it does get tiring and not sure if the company is headed in the right direction. High level management doesn't seem to listen to its frontline employees.

    Pros

The time off is good. I like that I usually do not bring home my job and live a stress free life away from the workplace.

    Cons

Very hostile environment between labor and management. Severe pay and benefit cuts while upper management get bonuses.

    Best job I've ever had

Jan 22, 2021 - Flight Attendant in Charlotte, NC
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Get paid to travel. Travel benefits for you, your family and friends. Flexible schedule. Pay and schedule flexibility increases with seniority so there's an incentive to stay. Represented by a union so job security is there.

    Cons

Away from home so not the best career for those with young kids or pets. But it's still very manageable! Have to work early mornings and very late nights. Not uncommon to work 14+ hour shifts but there's usually enough time for breaks in between flights and your layovers make up for it. All in all it's still very much worth it in my opinion. The only true downside is the industry volatility.

Who flies the world? Girls! 🛩️ History is in the making at this year’s Women in Aviation International Conference as we welcomed the first female American Airlines Cadet Academy graduates into our mainline flight deck. This milestone not only continues to diversify our pilot ranks, but secures the future of our airline’s pilot population. We’re excited to partner with #WAI to encourage and advance women through mentoring, education, networking and scholarship. Welcome to the #AATeam!

When you see it, you can be it! Last week, we teamed up with Mattel, Inc. to surprise customers with Bessie Coleman dolls from the Inspiring Women line on one of our flights. Bessie Coleman was the first Black and Native American female to earn a pilot’s license in 1921. A true pioneer in aviation who taught us the sky is just the beginning. To keep the inspiration going, our #AATeam hosted a unique event for aviation students at the Ronald E. McNair public school 5 in Brooklyn, New York — a place designed to encourage youth to follow and build upon Bessie Coleman’s rich legacy. Students could hear firsthand from Bessie’s great niece, Gigi Coleman, and test their skills on flight simulators guided by members of our #AATeam. And, to really drive home the excitement, each of the students was presented with a Bessie Coleman doll to remind them that you can accomplish anything if you let your dreams take flight. #LetGoodTakeFlight
