I worked at American Apparel full-time

    Pros

Got to work with some of the best people I know. I worked as an Inventory Keyholder and the work made the day go by fast. If you have a great work ethic, this job is for you.

    Cons

District managers and the CEO (at the time it was Dov) did not respect the work-life balance. Plus for the amount of work that you put in was not worth the pay.

    Advice to Management

Reward the employees that make the company function (not just store managers)

    Pros

You get to work with other creatives, management is young and it is relatively easy to make friends with everyone and move up in the company.

    Cons

Management is all over the place after CEO change, shortage of staff is causing everyone to scramble.

    Pros

Compensation and benefits are fair and much better than those of similar retail opportunities. I enjoyed my co-workers, and management was responsive.

    Cons

Promotions are rare. If you're hired locally, the likelihood of rising to corporate, i.e. national, work is small. American Apparel has been controversial over the years but deserves credit for local manufacturing and employment practices.
