I have been working at American College of Emergency Physicians full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Okay pay. No stress as performance was not emphasized-at least by my manager. Good working hours and passable benefits, but not as good as other nonprofits I have worked for.

    Cons

I thought I understood goals of the management but was surprised by the highly politicized environment when I started. It only got worse. Limited chance for advancement as senior staff has been here for years and years and they don't particularly like each other. If career and individual advancement is your goal, look elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Refocus on important organizational goals. Encourage leadership training.

    Pros

the pay and benefits were awesome

    Cons

My direct manager had zero leadership skills. There was a lot of backstabbing in my department. I spoke out about this and was subsequently terminated.

    Advice to Management

    Don't play favorites

I have been working at American College of Emergency Physicians full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good. There are good people to work with.

    Cons

People in the company are unhappy. Except for the DC office. Every one there seems happy. In the Irving office, there are clicks. Employees are mean to each other. I don't think its because they are bad people. I think its because they are scared to get in trouble so they try to find other people to blame their troubles on. If that means yelling or talking poorly about someone, that's what happens. HR and Board of directors don't seemed to be concerned about staff.

    Advice to Management

Management seems to value those in the building that the rest of the employees think are not necessarily the best and brightest.
