Smart and passionate associates at Corporate. Performance culture. Fast pace of change. Front line associates can present their own work upward to leaders. Fun workplace. Casual and stylish dress code.

Long-term strategies are non-existent. Frequent layoffs to go with the changing winds of the moment. Retail industry is in a slump.

I worked at American Eagle Outfitters as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Very laid back atmosphere, extremely casual dress code, flip flops are okay

    Cons

Extremely monotonus and boring mind numbing work. Writing generic emails and chat sessions with the same responses.

    Advice to Management

Allow for growth especially after working in a position for over a year to grow within the company. The sector I worked in people were given robotic responses and treated like robots by managment.

I worked at American Eagle Outfitters full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Discount was great 40-80% off and they did give out a lot of free food and candy and something a free clothing item

    Cons

Everything. Overworked and way underpaid as a MIT. I was thrown into merchandising with little to no training and was expected to do a a whole floorset by myself I was understaffed and had people call off on me because no one like doing them. My store manager was the worst she made working there even worse no one liked her and she wasn't friendly at all. Just like the other reviews say it is all about who is the favorite. If they like you you stay if not you're gone. The place was so bad that we hired an assistant manager and she walked out after a month. Even after I got hired people would talk about how bad it is and some one the management staff was talking about leaving because of the work and stress they put on you. One of if not the worst retail experience I have ever had.

    Pros

    Easy easy job great culture

    Cons

Many lazy employees who double the time a task takes. I know nothing about the retail end but if you land a data gig go slow. If you come from an environment where results are expected go with the locals.

    Advice to Management

Have an outside firm audit the folks in the office next to the data farm. HUGE waste of dough
