I worked at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Challenging environment best suited for growth and learning customer service skills. Also great for learning selling, cashier, and organization skills.

    Cons

The inconsistent hours were difficult for anyone over the age of 18. The managers were too inconsistent. Poor selling tracking system, everytging was pen and paper and word of moutg. Focuses too much on credit cards instead of the brand.

    Advice to Management

Needs to take more responsibly for employees and hours.

    Pros

Good discount on merchandise, Incentives to employees to sell products to customers. Other employees were fun to work with as well

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really good hours if you sell credit cards and rewards

    Cons

they really don't give you raises or bonuses at all. And they will probably keep you at minimum for the first year, but that's not a lie so they can't get mad I said this

    Advice to Management

    give performance based raises

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pros of working as a sales associate at American Eagle Outfitters are the employee discounts (baseline 40%, with added 60% off discounts and discounted items at various times throughout the year) and the other sales associates who are very fun and personable.

    Cons

Management feels distant and hard to approach at times, wages are minimal and the scheduled hours are sometimes inconsiderate of associates' non-work commitments.

Training is lacking and at times associates do not know what to do/ how to preform tasks that they are prescribed

    Advice to Management

Check in periodically with associates to ensure that they are progressing well and are preforming as best as possible in their job (communication).

I worked at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The employee discount was great- 60% off of 12 items a floor set, 40% off full priced clothing after that and 25% sale.

    Cons

The schedule was always uploaded late meaning that sometimes you only knew you had a shift a day before hand. The management was rude and unorganized. The floor was a mess which made go backs an absolute dreed. There were also goals to get people to sign up for credit cards and rewards cards which upset costumers. Worst of all they only gave me 4-8 hours a week despite promising more. Overall a horrible experience.

    Advice to Management

Update schedules on time and be fair to employees.

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Generally, everyone who works here is great. Store manager isn't the greatest, but I would imagine that this isn't universally the case.
GREAT employee discount: 60% off your first 12 items/floor set up to $60 per item (so basically 60% off everything but jackets.) 40% off otherwise. 25% off clearance.

    Cons

Hours are very inconsistent. I will have weeks that I have 5 shifts that are 8 hours long, and other weeks where I have one four hour shift. No obvious pattern to it either.

    Advice to Management

When your employees ask for hours, and make good sales, give them hours, don't hire new people if people are already getting very few hours, feels like the company doesn't care about the SA's as a result.

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Discounts
    Casual dress attire
    Great employees

    Cons

    -Politics with upper management
-unrealistic workload based on payroll provided
-no fulltime positions unless your management

    Advice to Management

-Provide fulltime for employees which would give them incentive to stay
-Politics...look at performance vs. Who you know
-Accountability needs to be more on upper management...on why so many managers are leaving American eagle.
