I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Meeting new people and styling them is always fun. The managers are very understanding in any situation if you go and talk to them. Most of the employees are cool and down to earth.

    Cons

Once the seasonal period is over, you have to fight to get decent hours ,and at the same time thats happening AE is hiring more people. You really have to push loyalty (credit card and rewards card) and if you don't know how to do that, they'll put you where you don't talk to anybody. Returns are frowned upon and they hate when we have to take them.

    Advice to Management

Work with the employees that you have before you continue to hire more.

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Discounts are bomb. 40%-80% depending on your position in the store. Flexible schedule, at least at my store, my managers are understanding whenever there's a family issue or anything. Employees are pretty cool and there are lots of incentives for employees to exceed goals. Plus health benefits for full and part time employees.

    Cons

The only con is with the health benefits, the health "insurance" is indemnity car.

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great discount, nice clothes, good benefits. Company is very philanthropic so they show they care by giving back. Words words words.

    Cons

Minimal coverage, messy customers, not always the best logistics when it comes to shipments or returns. Management pay scale is not on par with other retailers.

    Advice to Management

Loosen up the purse strings. You expect a lot out of your field-team that has to deal with people trying on everything you offer and leaving it all in a pile on the floor. Even customers think you don't have enough staff working to help everyone!
