      Pros

Full Time Benefits are some of the best Great Employee Discount

      Cons

Share Holders are the only priority at the end of the day Little to no Career Paths out of the stores to field leadership or home office reduction of full time roles in stores for more part time roles, all the work non of the benefits

      Great First Job

Jun 12, 2021 - Sales Associate/Cashier in Santa Rosa, CA

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Benefits: 60% 10 items each month, unlimited 40% off which can be used for friends and family and additional 25% off clearance items.

      Cons

Ridiculous expectations like having customers to apply for the store credit card which often felt like I was expected to pressure the customers into apply if they decline. Each associate was expected to have up to 3 credit card applications. Credit card applications seemed to be one of the main priorities. Those who are more successful at getting credit applications were favored. Management seems to care more about numbers rather than the employees.

      Pros

      1. You meet an amazing group of people. 2. Discounts are amazing.

      Cons

      1. You are either overworked or underworked. 2. Claim they are flexible with school but end up scheduling you on days of exams and class. 3. Money driven corporation, conversion makes no sense and creates unnecessary stress on staff and managers. 4. District managers lack knowledge of different cultures and customers in different locations as they expect the same standard for every company even though one is placed in a predominately suburban area while the other is in a store filled with tourist looking for the cheapest option. 5. Terrible for your physical and mental health. 6. The position of “dream maker” leaves girls defenseless and vulnerable to others as they are stared down by people (mostly men) and must stand for 1-3 hours greeting customers who tend to ignore them. Useless position. 7. District managers care about $$$

      Pros

I liked the 60% off discounts.

      Cons

Weird shifts and the mall closes at 9 now so sometimes you didn’t get to leave till 9:30.

      Poor management

      Pros

I loved my coworkers, it wasn't cliquey at all. We were all invested in making sure the work place environment felt safe, welcoming, and inclusive for everyone that worked there. Assistant store managers (2) were great! They always did their best to calm any misunderstandings or work-related issues. They made sure we were heard to an extent (reasons included in the cons).

      Cons

Poor management decisions from the top (store manager) impacted us heavily. Promoting newly 18 year old employees to sales/stock lead positions (mini managers without the title/pay of assistant manager) with no prior retail experience is a bad call in general. Additionally, our store manager is close with the district manager (which means, any complaints we have get swept under the rug). Not to mention the pay gap between some male and female employees with the SAME title and the females having more experience under their belt (I thought pay gaps were a thing of the past but apparently not for American Eagle) . It quickly became an unhealthy environment due to the store manager's poor decisions.

      Great company going down

      Pros

I worked for Ae for 6 years and I use to love the brand and my job. Over there years they revamped their entire upper management and it’s not the same anymore.

      Cons

They care less about the people who work for them and more about the stupid collaboration they have brought in. Upper management is a nightmare to work for and we’re verbally abusive to store managers and employees

      Pros

Easy work, flexible hours, good discounts (although the continuously decreased them over the 2 years that I worked there)

      Cons

Company was horrible to work for during the pandemic. No regard for employee safety

Experience depends upon management and store location

Jun 9, 2021 - Selling Leader in Rockaway, NJ

      Pros

Good clothing discount, overall easy to work in environment. Co-workers can make or break the day to day. Location/volume of store can determine a good or bad experience. Stores that make more and have access to cities will thrive more which leads to better potential for growth.

      Cons

Part timers have little to no incentives, with little room for growth and advancement that depends upon how much money the store makes. Company has changed a lot over the past few years for the worse in certain directions in my opinion. Workers are fed over exaggerated videos that encourage interactions that do not translate into real world context.
