I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters part-time

    Pros

They really take the time to teach you how to sell and create outfits for customers. 60-80% discount

    Cons

You'll be lucky if you get longer than 4.5 hour shifts 3x a week. There's a very high employee turnover rate.

    Advice to Management

Why are there a minimum of 3 managers in the store on a slow weekday when employees can barely get any hours?

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Really great employee discount! Friendly environment, especially if your younger since they hire minors too. Good variety of job tasks.

    Cons

No work life balance during busy season and then no hours during slow times. Being a sales Leader means you are expected to do the same thing as the managers but without PTO benefits or nearly as much money.

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

American Eagle treats its employees very well! There are fun contests and it's great to get rewards for working hard. The company is also very good about letting their workers be individuals.

    Cons

As a sales associate, you have to be prepared to work during holidays.

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice building, trail side location, free parking, onsite cafeteria has lots of healthy options, early out Fridays during the summer, bring your dog to work, 40% clothing discount, healthcare is average, vacation starts off at 18 days

    Cons

Work/life balance, management is more based on how long they've been around not so much how qualified they are. Some departments have a great deal of flexibility while others have none. A lot of the "shiny" exterior hides the cultural issues within.

    Advice to Management

Can't have a baby boomer business attitude when the product is for young adults.

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

American Eagle has one of the best retail discounts, bonuses, and contest opportunities for its employees.

    Cons

They definitely low ball you in your hourly rate especially when you work your way in the company. Compared to outsourcing people.

    Advice to Management

Be open to learning from others and also sharing your own experiences. It is all about team environment.
