I worked at American Eagle Outfitters part-time

    Pros

Clothes if you're into their style and you get a major discount on sale and new items.

    Cons

The work atmosphere was unhealthy and uncomfortable. I needed to work, and used to like their brand in the past. However, when i worked here the first time it was just bad. But when i came back another year, hoping it would be different, it went to worse. You were thrown into credit card sign-ups very quickly with only a candy bar as your "reward" and a nice note written about it on a board that looks like an Instagram page in the break room. Hours weren't great, and there were cliques throughout the employee team. If you worked here twice, your pay only went up 50 cents (above average minimum wage). The clothes in the back were stacked up so much that it took hours to go through it to find the item and ship it. The managers don't care what the employees say to each other, just if you get those numbers up. The videos for training aren't great either and ignore the fact that not all of your employees are alike. Will not shop there, either.

    Advice to Management

Invest in people and their personalities they bring to others lives and when something unprofessional is said encourage management to speak up.

    Pros

    40 % discount...that's about it.

    Cons

Given very few hours, even for part time.

I worked at American Eagle Outfitters part-time

    Pros

    Good discounts on clothes
Most of my coworkers were nice
They make sure you get your breaks

    Cons

    Hardly ever scheduled me
When I was scheduled, they would send me home after 2 hours (happened 3 times in one week)
They scheduled me and sent me home after 20 minutes of working (happened once)
    Managers were strict and unfriendly
I worked there for 2 months and was scheduled for 8 shifts, 4 of which I was sent home early
Pays minimum wage, yet they expect you to go above and beyond to make sales
This was the single worst employer I have ever had
Orientation felt like I entered BMT Camp (Basic Military Training)

    Advice to Management

Put people on the schedule. When you do put people on the schedule, don't send them home after a mere 2 hours. Make sure as a manager, power doesn't go to your head and actually be friendly to new people. If your going to pay minimum wage, then expect minimum wage work. Know your target audience, most teenagers can't buyout the store with babysitting money.

    Cons

-can't afford it even with discount because the pay is so low
-useless managers cut hours every single week
-Store was a mess because they wouldn't have enough employees working to save hours
    -pay is a joke
-don't give more hours to people that have been with them longer

    Advice to Management

Don't cut so many hours all the time. Also maybe don't tell us that you're cutting our hours so you all qualify for a bonus.

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters full-time

    Pros

    The discount is really nice.

    Cons

It's not a good company to work for.

    Advice to Management

I worked at American Eagle Outfitters as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Very laid back atmosphere, extremely casual dress code, flip flops are okay

    Cons

Extremely monotonus and boring mind numbing work. Writing generic emails and chat sessions with the same responses.

    Advice to Management

Allow for growth especially after working in a position for over a year to grow within the company. The sector I worked in people were given robotic responses and treated like robots by managment.

I worked at American Eagle Outfitters full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Discount was best thing at AE

    Cons

District mananger WS, payroll, ridiculous windows, ridiculous visit prep, unrealistic goals when retail is on a downward spiral.

    Advice to Management

Give the stores, the ones who bring in the money, more payroll, and have upper management spend a week running a actual store before giving them a position.

I worked at American Eagle Outfitters full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Discount was great 40-80% off and they did give out a lot of free food and candy and something a free clothing item

    Cons

Everything. Overworked and way underpaid as a MIT. I was thrown into merchandising with little to no training and was expected to do a a whole floorset by myself I was understaffed and had people call off on me because no one like doing them. My store manager was the worst she made working there even worse no one liked her and she wasn't friendly at all. Just like the other reviews say it is all about who is the favorite. If they like you you stay if not you're gone. The place was so bad that we hired an assistant manager and she walked out after a month. Even after I got hired people would talk about how bad it is and some one the management staff was talking about leaving because of the work and stress they put on you. One of if not the worst retail experience I have ever had.
