I have been working at American Express full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work life balance. Acceptable pay. Good people. Collaborative environment. Great products and brand

    Cons

Perferental treatment given to minorities (women, LGBT, ethnic minorities, etc.) Very good and inclusive environment but overly concerned with promoting minorities rather than high performers. Lots of White Males complain about this within the company.

    Advice to Management

Focus on profitability of existing products instead of launching so many new ones

    Pros

Leadership compotency. Fair place to work and they work at it.

    Cons

Outsourcing jobs and having too many Brits in leadership roles.

    Advice to Management

Support America and stop shipping jobs over-sees, as well as leveraging H1 visas in America to fill our jobs. Though, I've seen some US talent...and it's not pretty.

I worked at American Express (More than a year)

    Pros

Payback is a subsidiary of American Express and is an innovative loyalty management provider. Started in 2000, it had grown to 1200 staff in 2013. American Express uses the loyalty management system in the USA under the name Plentii. Interesting work in a fast growing company

    Cons

Payback is very agile, however within American Express this was not very welcome and it took some time to convince then of the advantages

    Advice to Management

Agile is the way to go. In a disruptive world, innovations in the financial sector are happening very fast. To keep ahead agility is required!
