I worked at American Express TRS full-time

    Pros

    Benefits, pay, great company

    Cons

Constantly being listened to on calls and being rated how well u did... Makes you anxious all the time afraid your doing something wrong and judged. It's nerve racking

    Advice to Management

Constantly being listened to on calls and being rated how well u did... Makes you anxious all the time afraid your doing something wrong and judged. It's nerve racking . Understand why it's done but dealing with clients is nerve racking enough... It's just more stress on employees. Tone it down a little and employees won't be so anxious all the time when taking a call.

I have been working at American Express TRS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are great. If you can get with the right team leader your work life is better.

    Cons

It's hard to get a good schedule or change your existing one. Most jobs are being out sourced to other countries. You need to be friends with your team leader or you are left out of whats happening in your department. Lots of cliques. Security should be better.

    Advice to Management

Need to loosen the metrics. You are trying to save money in the wrong place.

I worked at American Express TRS full-time

    Pros

Great Benefits, Ability to move around to different parts of company

    Cons

They've been doing "Reductions in Force" (lay-offs) annually for the past 5 years or so. Only to replace them quickly following that. The one I was caught in was when they committed to reducing expenses ($1B) in 2016 & 2017.

    Advice to Management

How about retraining employees instead of laying them off to save $$$ & then hiring new people at lower salaries!

    Pros

You have the opportunity to travel and stay at the hotels our clients prefer. Experience first hand for better recommendation to our members.

    Cons

The company is not so focused on customer service as before too many scripts to read like a bank less travel experience.

I worked at American Express TRS (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Commitment to employees career growth and opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

Recent reorganization of the business resulting from the loss of a major partner has created an atmosphere of fear. More work with less resources so the overall climate of the company has dramatically changed. Also, the pending retirement of Ken Chennault leads many to wonder if the company will eventually be bought by an outside entity.

    Advice to Management

Stay true to what made this a great company which was always its commitment to its customers, employees and shareholders.

    Pros

Great place to work. Friendly staff. People are lifers.

    Cons

Once your in a position. It is hard for them to take you seriously towards growth especially as a minority in Utah. Overall Amex is a great company it's just Utah.

    Advice to Management

Act like you care that your employee wants growth. It is Amex motto.
