I have been working at American Financial Group

    Pros

In my division, it is extremely easy to talk to anyone, at any level about concerns and ideas.

    Cons

Sometimes management gets caught up with Management fads, trys them briefly and then drops this idea for the next new thing.

    Advice to Management

Really utilize internal talent and resources to make the most of the company. It will make the employees satisfied and help the corporate bottom line.

I worked at American Financial Group

    Pros

Coworkers were always helpful and easy to get along with

    Cons

Short staffed, ineffective scheduling, lack of communication between management and subordinates

    Advice to Management

Listen more to your subordinates and consider their input. Also, hires a couple extra employees so there isn't so many issues covering the schedule

I have been working at American Financial Group full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Decent benefits including ample PTO and learning opportunities. Strong leadership that continues to grow the business and is top performing year after year.

      Cons

Conservative company. Can be difficult to take time off, even thought "work life balance" is preached at executive levels.

I worked at American Financial Group full-time for more than 5 years

        Pros

It is relatively easy to get promoted within many of the groups due to the attrition problems the organization has. They moved their offices slightly farther away from the bus stops so the odds of getting panhandled or someone trying to sell you crack are a bit lower than they were a few years ago. The Linders throw one heck of a private Christmas party

        Cons

The organization accidentally found itself in a profitable position after the 08 market events, they tried to maintain their profitability through a series of destructive culture and process changes. I went through 11 supervisors in 5 years. The company used to have people that had a decade of experience running things on the day-to-day level, now they have mostly newer hires and contractors. Advice to Management

Your organization is topheavy with unskilled managers that are crushing any talent you might manage to retain. Correct this and salvage what skilled employees you have left before you make the nightly news.
