I worked at American Freight Furniture full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Great money..that’s the only Pro.

    Cons

You work every day. It’s 100% commission, so as a store manager you are required to do warehouse work...and not get paid to do it. Only time you’re making money is when you’re selling.

    Advice to Management

Pay your warehouse workers more so SALES professionals can be SALES professionals...not warehouse workers. I think it’s ridiculous you make your sales people do warehouse work, and pay them straight commission.

I have been working at American Freight Furniture full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Staff is very diverse -Easy to move up in the company -Straight forward tasks

    Cons

    - No drug test required - hours available depend on bi-weekly sales - may have to unload truck shipments alone

    Advice to Management

Raise the 2% warehouse limit to 2.5 or even 3%. This will give your warehouse crews more flexibility during the week to get the warehouse in order and keep it manageable without going to far over. I'm not saying this has to be done for all locations but maybe adjusted for the locations with higher sales output compared to shipments of goods received.

I worked at American Freight Furniture full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Working with the general public

    Cons

Upper management fires or demotes you for absolutely no reason in my experience. They came in and said we think you need more training and never did anything! Oh so you are liars? What a joke!

    Advice to Management

    Fulfill your promises made.

I worked at American Freight Furniture full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There’s only really two pros. If you work hard you can expect to move up and get management experience. Second, you can potentially make lots of money at times.

    Cons

Upper management sucks. Company policy to keep heat at 55 during winter. But if the store has overhead doors they’ll be open all day long everyday. So if you work in states that see snow on a regular basis, dress for the outdoors even though you’re technically inside. They also will demote managers if your store doesn’t see an increase from the year before. So if you did better a couple years in a row and all of a sudden your store didn’t see a gain, you no longer have a job as manager. A company that only sells furniture can only make an increase so long while trying to sell the SAME stuff. You have no life either. You gotta work 6 days a week open to close. I was working 60-80 hours a week.

I have been working at American Freight Furniture full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great work environment, flexible work hours, competitive pay, good work experience, and amazing people to work with. The company and employees are very appreciative. If you help someone, there is almost always a thank you or appreciation that follows!

    Cons

No 401k or paid vacation until after 1 year of employment.

I have been working at American Freight Furniture full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Decent pay as sales. Nothing else to say really.

    Cons

At first it was fun but there are VP's above that are absolutely clueless that couldn't operate a toilet if their lives depended on it.

    Advice to Management

Stay in management and do not elevate yourself. Look how many regionals have become a rotating door. You will always be blamed for the failure of your superiors who shouldn't have ever been in that area in the first place.
