I have been working at American Greetings part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

It's part time, where they tell you the number of hours your card account(s) gets, and you work those hours on your own schedule.

    Cons

Management will not update you on information until the last minute. This company seems to change out territory leads often.

    Advice to Management

Warnings would be nice, and listening to staff when they say they need assistance would also be good.

I have been working at American Greetings part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible Hours. Work Independently

    Cons

Expectations of degree of commitment to job is large. Should not have to work multiple times 10 hours in one day with push back on how long it takes to do the job

    Advice to Management

Learn how to manage employee expectations. Communicate what the company expects.

I worked at American Greetings part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You can make your own hours for the most part

    Cons

A LOT of travel because those with seniority get the best locations even if you live in the merchandising area you're requesting, lack of overall care for the employees

    Advice to Management

Be more observant of the needs of the employee

I have been working at American Greetings part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexibility in schedule, very little work in summer

    Cons

Low pay, duties that you are required to perform weekly cannot be completed in the amount of time they allot. You are not paid for the time you spend reporting your time, checking activities & schedule and reviewing the activities that you need to complete. They allow you to report up 15 minutes weekly to payroll for administrative time spent but only if you have have 15 minutes unused from your weekly hours. The also require you to perform "peak service" calls to certain stores the day(s) before a holiday. This mean you have to service a store for 1 hour and that's it. Your time spent going to and from the store is not paid, and the day before Mother's Day they require 2 peak calls, one in the AM and one in the PM. So they expect you to go to a store for one an hour, leave and then return in the afternoon for one hour to service the store. So its important to live very close to the stores you service or you could be spending more time commuting to and from a store than the actual time you spend in the store working.

    Advice to Management

They should try doing the job themselves and see that their expectations are unrealistic.

I worked at American Greetings part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

flexible schedule during store open hours, ability to pick up more hours through subbing for someone else or store remodels,

    Cons

Old product not disposed of, boxes of merchandise just sent automatically with no storage, too much work for minimal hours given, pay very low

    Advice to Management

Give more hours for work required, give perks to PTMs for incredible monotonous job, get rid of old outdated product. Stop sending merchandise that is not ordered.

I worked at American Greetings full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You can kind of pick your own hours.

    Cons

You have to work days before holiday and days after holiday. This puts a damper on your holidays, with no holiday pay or overtime, ever. You never know hours you will work until week of. You will never work over 30 hours, and 10 hours is more the average. It's very physical, especially around holidays. You are rewarded for you hard work, and it is many times very hard, with hand sanitizer, a date book, coupons to by company branded shirts. You are basically alone and never appreciated. Some of your stores will not be happy you sell their product, and resent the space your product takes up in their stores.

    Advice to Management

    More money, more respect.
