I have been working at American Greetings part-time

    Pros

I am currently a part time worker at American Greetings. I live the flexibility to set your own hours and that you work by yourself.

    Cons

Very slow except when it's holiday time then the time is outrageous. The managers and district managers are not that great, when they meet you they talk real nice but they send you an email with a bad review.

    Advice to Management

Get managers who know what they are doing and not just off the street.

I have been working at American Greetings part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Flexible work hours at times

    Cons

They work you to death at the holidays
    No room for advancement
You have to work every weekend if you service a Walmart.
You can barely take a vacation. You have to find someone to take your place.
The stores can be very hard to work with about placing product outside of the card department.
They overwhelm you with merchandise at the holidays and expect you to do the work of two people with no help or support.

    Advice to Management

Support the merchandisers that work so hard for you.
    Promote from within.

I worked at American Greetings full-time

    Pros

Very friendly people, good benefits, pay, plenty of resources for employees

    Cons

Overall: Closed off, not a ton of collaboration, very little diversity (in terms of age, experience, race, etc.)
Personal experience: Pigeonholed on my assignments, very little variety in assignments, inattentive management, would get far in a project, only have to get critique that should have happened months prior, forcing more time into a project.

    Pros

There are only a few pros for working this job: casual dress, no manager looking over your shoulder, and you can create own schedule half the time.

    Cons

There are many cons to working with this company as follows: lack of diversity, too much work expected for the allotted time, expected to sell to store managers who don't want to hear it, a lot of weeks you cannot create your own schedule, upper management does not listen and are disrespectful, and there is a culture of snobbery.

    Advice to Management

If you cannot allot the appropriate amount of time for employees to do the work necessary, then why are you still in business?

I worked at American Greetings part-time

    Pros

Paid decently, somewhat flexible schedule, employees are polite.

    Cons

Not trained properly, unrealistic expectations per hours allotted to work. Was advertised as 10-25 hours per week, but during non peak seasons, only given less than 4 hours per week.

    Advice to Management

Management should train employees, not other employees who are not well seasoned and have only a few months of experience. Unrealistic expectations for a mere 4 or fewer hours per week.

    Pros

Flexible hours with no micromanagement. The company did not have the typical corporate feel which can be a good thing.

    Cons

Very unorganized and chaotic. No direction and pay was bad. The company seems to not know what it wants and has no idea where current trends are going.
