I worked at American Helicopters full-time for more than 10 years
Family owned company, friendly ownership, culture of safety and excellence instilled on everyone. Company provided uniforms. Variety of airplanes and helicopters to fly and teach in.
If you want to earn a decent living here prepare to work 6.5 days a week and 10 plus hours a day. Lots of promises from ownership with no results, late paychecks, no real organization in back office, customer service folks are not trained enough and are burdened with absolutely too many tasks thus creating many problems for employees and customers. Ownership has many other businesses so things get overlooked and... forgotten frequently which contributes to this company not doing as well as it could be.
Advice to Management
Get a full time business manager to run back office, improve scheduling and prediction of aircraft maintenance, better to assign tasks to your trusted employees then to micromanage and assert your authority. Hire a dispatcher that handles aircraft/student/renter scheduling, tracks times for maintenance, generates reports and dispatches/receives aircraft coming in and going out. Let the chief pilot run the flight... school like they know how and don't interfere as much.American Helicopters2019-01-25
