    Pros

The opportunity to work alongside a mentor and explore economic topics of your own choice.
The chance to publish your own economic blogs.
Great people, great experience, a wonderful bank of economic resources!

    Cons

The internship only lasted the duration of my senior year in high school.

    Pros

Tons of funding and plenty of resources. Lots of people were willing to help. It was a great experience interning for AIER and it helped me apply my economic knowledge to more complex situations.

    Cons

Was not paid, not a very competitive environment so it easy to get too laid back. Some people less impressive than others.

    Advice to Management

Introduce a formal training program for interns. Work interns harder and give a little more direct guidance and goals to high school interns.

I worked at American Institute for Economic Research as an intern

    Pros

Have full-access to the research study archive at AIER library.

    Cons

The location of AIER is not convenient to reach, you need to have your own car or share car with others.

    Advice to Management

Could have more research seminars during the summer time.

I worked at American Institute for Economic Research as an intern

    Pros

Small company, very very friendly work environment, diverse research projects, free breakfast and lunch, beautiful in the summer, accommodation provided to all interns is also very comfortable and safe, interns are given flexibility to take on many responsibilities for projects, everyone is included in decision making and welcome to give ideas, great work experience, close to Tanglewood and Saratoga, many fun outdoor activities, everyone plays ping pong

    Cons

Good to have a car to get around, since it's a small town there is not much within walking distance. Other employees with cars are usually very helpful though, so it wasn't a big issue.

    Pros

Wonderful experience for a summer. Good compensation considering the beautiful castle where interns all stayed during the summer. On weekdays, breakfast and lunch are provided. People there are very nice and helpful. Interns are treated equally with full-time employees. Lots if outdoor activities in the summer.

    Cons

There is no cons really except for the small town.

    Pros

Very friendly place, and the working environment is great. They treat interns very nice, and I enjoyed to have a summer there.

    Cons

The city is very small. You need to drive for one hour to have some entertainment at the weekend.

I worked at American Institute for Economic Research as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

This place is supportive research-wise. Interns can interact and learn from researchers. Their program is very helpful and they organize a lot of events. The place is very beautiful, very good environment.

    Cons

The research center is in a very small town. There are not a lot of people. It could get boring. However, on the other hand, it is a good place to do research because there are not a lot of distractions.

  9. "small research institute in a rural area with many outdoors activities"

    Pros

Very close to Tanglewood where the Boston Symphony Orchestra performs every summer. The Berkshire region has great natural beauty and some of the best hiking trails.
Somewhat active research in current economic conditions for general audience. Interesting seminars with speakers from around Boston.

    Cons

Great Barrington is isolated from the rest of the research community so you are limited to research staff only. There are not that many projects to work on unless you have a clear research idea.
