    Negative Outlook

I worked at American Leadership Academy full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Nothing positive about this school.

    Cons

Don't keep promises. Pay and benefits are garbage. Administration has not education background. The board is corrupt (especially the Morleys, they are the most immoral family I have ever met). Sports are pathetic. Teachers give A's because if they don't they get in trouble. Admin uses a fear factor and scare tactics to intimidate employees and teachers. Education is sub par, teachers are just doing what they can do not...

    Advice to Management

Get real administrators with an actual education background. Quit paying your fine arts teachers and family members six digits, and put the money into the teachers.

I worked at American Leadership Academy full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some good teachers are at ALA

    Cons

The culture at ALA looks nice on the outside, but has an undercurrent of gossiping and backbiting. I think the problem stems from teachers being afraid to ask questions, express opinion, or voice concerns. If you are not friend with administration, have a name, are related to someone, then you won't be listened to.

    Advice to Management

Treat everyone with respect no matter how long you know them or if you are or are not related to them. Stop the passive aggressive games.

I worked at American Leadership Academy full-time

      Pros

The parents and students are mostly great. Your fellow employees will be mostly nice and hard working people. Their is a great desire to do what is right and get the best results for the students.

      Cons

The leadership has no education experience and often makes decisions without fully understanding or considering their impacts. There is not a lot of follow through on initiatives and there are a lot of initiatives. Constant focus on money, sports, events, looks, and not so much on academics. No real focus on employees or mentoring. Lots of turnover. They're good people, and mean well, but eventually you weary of make...

      Advice to Management

Slow down initiatives, grow at a reasonable pace, follow through, get to know your employees.

I worked at American Leadership Academy for more than a year

      Pros

Growing charter school with desire to change the world one student at a time. Uniform school with high expectations of teachers and students.

      Cons

Executives kill the willing by excessive expectations and hours. Pay minimally for work that is required. Nepotism runs rampant.

      Advice to Management

Reward your hardest working employees with extra time off, or frequent raises to compensate for their sacrifices to grow your company.

I worked at American Leadership Academy part-time for more than a year

      Pros

The staff and student body were friendly and helpful. Patriotism and values are taught and encouraged at this school.

      Cons

At the time I was at the school, it was only their second year. The enrollment was small compared to the next few years. The enrollment increased each year which opened up opportunities for other teachers.

      Advice to Management

I believe it would be helpful to hire a teacher to assist students in obtaining part-time employment.
